A/N: This is my first fanfiction so tell me how I did please!
It was a quiet night in Gotham. The only crime all night was a thief trying to steal a purse from a helpless lady. Batman hadn't even needed Robin to put that to rest. It was almost time to head home, when a lady shrieked, "HELP!"
Batman and Robin grappled away, swinging towards the source of the plea. When they landed on a rooftop nearby, they heard the sounds of a struggle. Batman rushed to the ledge to jump in, but when he did, he saw that the lady was already saved. She was thanking someone that… Batman's eyes widened.
"Woah." He heard Robin say from beside him. The Dynamic Duo jumped into the alleyway, quietly walking towards the figure who had saved the lady. They thought they were sneaking up on the person since their back was turned, but as soon as Batman was about to speak, the person turned towards them. Batman hid his shock very well, while Robin gaped.
Batman and Robin stared down the red haired teen(she couldn't have been more than thirteen) that stood before them now. She smiled brightly back. She wore a purple bat suit, with a gold bat emblem on her chest. She had a yellow belt with cargo pouches sewn on to act as a utility belt. She also wore a dark purple cape, with a gold underside. Her mask was a smaller, purple version of Batman's cowl. Emerald green eyes smiled at the Dynamic Duo, still looking at her in confusion.
"And, who are you supposed to be?" Robin asked, pointing a finger and tilting his head at the girl.
"I'm Batgirl!" She replied, never breaking her smile. Batman's lips pursed.
"There is no Batgirl." He said, trying to mask the annoyance in his voice.
"There is now!" She stated confidently, putting her hands on her hips.
Robin scoffed. "Go home kid," He started. "And leave the heroics to us!" He pointed at his chest with his thumb.
It was 'Batgirl's' turn to scoff. "Kid?" She glanced at Robin. "You're one to talk."
Robin looked insulted, and Batman placed a calming hand on his ward's shoulder. The dark knight opened his mouth to speak.
"I admire your ambition. But this is dangerous work. You should go home." Batman edged his words out, trying to steady his reaction.
"Or, maybe I could help you guys!" She said hopefully. Batman narrowed his stare.
"No." He stated flatly.
"But maybe you could-"
"No." He repeated.
"Are you sure you couldn't…?"
"NO." Batman snapped. The red haired girl turned away, her head bowed in disappointment. She took out her grappling hook, scaling the wall, then swinging away towards home. Before she swung out of sight, she suddenly jumped down. Batman and Robin ran towards the scene. When they arrived, they found two crooks tied together, hanging from a flagpole stationed outside of a jewelry store.
"Well, she's persistent." Robin noted. He cuffed the crooks and cut them down, as Batman picked up a note that was left at the scene. Batman scowled as he read the note. He sensed that this wouldn't be the last they'd see of Batgirl.
