Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon. If I did, I assure you, Latias would be the main character. I do not own Queen's "Somebody to Love" but it was my inspiration.

Note from the Author: This story takes place 5 years after the events in Pokemon Heroes. For the sake of making things easier, the Pokemon will speak in English. I do not like stories that pair Ash with Latias. However, I do not flame them. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions. Please share my consideration and do not flame me. Somebody to Love

Prologue

The morning sun was beginning to rise over the island city of Altomare. From his viewpoint on top of the museum, Adrian watched the people below scurry about their morning rituals. Behind him, his Plusle and Minum, Volt and Spark, watched him, too afraid to say anything to attempt to cheer him up.
"Doesn't the sun look beautiful this morning?" Adrian sighed. "It doesn't really matter though. Nothing can change my fate. Without her, life just doesn't seem worth living. What do you two think?"
Spark, the small blue Minum, was the first to attempt to cheer him up. "Master, is she really worth it? You can always find someone else! Besides, you have us. We will never leave you!"
"Thank you for the attempt Spark. However, I've made up my mind. Everybody needs somebody to love. If she doesn't love me, I have nobody. Maybe he is the right one for her. I've always been alone and I guess that is the way it will end." Adrian could feel the tears welling up in his eyes but he forced them back and continued to stare into the distance.
Volt looked at Spark with concern filling her eyes. "I have to do something to stop him. Maybe this is all a big misunderstanding. She'll help. I know she will! Please, whatever you do, don't let him do it!" With that, Volt turned and ran.
Spark thought to himself for a minute and finally came up with an idea. "I have an idea master. Why don't you think things through for a moment? How did we get here? If you look back, maybe we'll find a better solution than this. Give it a try. Reconsider this insane course of action. Look into your heart!"

Chapter 1

As the sun slowly sank into the horizon, the only sound was the splashing of the waves against the sides of the ferry. Adrian leaned against the rail and stared out over the ocean. Volt and Spark were balance on the rail next to him. They had no possessions of their own except for their dreams and Adrian's instrument. There just wasn't much of a demand for traveling musicians now. However, they believed they could change their luck when they reached the resort town of Altomare.
"We're almost there guys." Adrian said happily. "Once we get to Altomare, our luck will change. Every tourist wants to hear a little music on their vacation, right?"
"That's right boss!" Spark chimed happily. "We'll be rich and we can finally stop traveling!"
"You idiot!" Volt snapped. "There are more important things in life besides money. Besides, I enjoy traveling. I love the beautiful sights and all of the interesting people!"
Adrian laughed. "Calm down you two. Do you want to swim to Altomare?"
"That was brilliant of you to offer entertainment for free passage." Volt smiled. "I never would have thought of that!"
"When you don't have much, you have to work with what you've got. Besides, I think the captain felt sorry for us."
Suddenly, the door to the dining area swung open and the captain walked out onto the deck.
"We had a deal and now it's time to pay up." the captain said in a gruff voice. "Some music would go nicely with dinner. Now get in there and play!"
Adrian smiled and picked up his instrument. Volt and Spark jumped onto his shoulders and they walked to the dining area. Sitting on a stool, Adrian removed the saxophone left to him by his father. After a brief, welcoming applause from the audience, he put the instrument to his mouth and played a slow, sad song he remembered from his childhood.
Volt smiled. She loved this song and knew her master did too. She took and breath and sang along under her breath. "Can anybody find me somebody to love?"

Chapter 2

As the sun sank down into the sea, a cool darkness filled the small garden at the heart of Altomare. Latias stared sadly at the sky wishing she had someone to keep her from being lonely. The other Latias and Latios had left the garden to play around town while Bianca and her grandfather were busy at the museum. She had explored the town many times before and no longer found any joy in it. Why did it seem that she had lost all of her happiness when her brother died? With a sad, lonely sigh, she shifted to her human form and got up from where she had been laying.
"Why should I stay around here feeling sorry for myself?" she said sadly. "Maybe I can find a new friend if I explore the town one more time."
Latias had always believed that her brother Latios would be there for her and that she would never be lonely. However, since his death, she constantly felt the sting of loneliness. It was strange. She was lonely even when Bianca was around. It was as though her heart longed for something more. Something was missing and she was determined to find it. As she walked from the garden to the city and began to explore the streets, her mind was filled with thoughts. 'Altomare is such a beautiful town,' she thought to herself. 'It has everything a Pokemon could want. Why can't I find what I want? What am I missing?' The thoughts tormented Latias to great extent. 'When I was younger, I was always so carefree. What did I have then that I don't have now? The only thing missing now is my brother. I can never replace him. Will I be lonely forever? Bianca is my friend but she doesn't make this pain go away. What is wrong with me? Can no one ease the pain in my heart?' Without thinking, Latias sank onto a bench and buried her head in her hands and tried to let the tears wash away her pain.

Chapter 3

The boat docked with a soft thud. The walkway groaned as the crowd of tourists pushed and shoved their way to the pier. Adrian and his Pokemon gathered up their dreams followed the crowd to dry land.
"The first thing we need to do is find a Pokemon Center." Adrian said. "Maybe we should ask for directions."
They walked from the docks to an empty street and began to look for anyone who could help. The only person in sight was a man standing next to a gondola. As the trio approached, he stared at them curiously.
"Sir, I was wondering if you could direct us to the nearest Pokemon Center?' Adrian asked nervously. He cautiously stepped back as the man stood up.
The man stared at Adrian for a moment, his eyes examining the young man and his Pokemon. Finally, he smiled at the three.
"I can take you there in my gondola," he offered. "It's just a short trip down the main canal."
Adrian smiled at the man. "Thank you for the offer sir. I don't have any money but I could offer you some music on the way."
The man shook his head. "It's no trouble. You seem honest enough. Pay me back later."
Spark and Volt cheered excitedly and danced around Adrian's legs. After expressing his gratitude, Adrian and his friends climbed into the gondola. As the gondola cruised through the waters, Adrian and Volt looked around the town in awe. Spark was leaning over the edge watching the Pokemon swim by. As he watched the creatures below, Spark drew closer the river. Suddenly, a small wave hit the gondola and Spark tumbled into the water. Adrian and the gondola driver rushed to the edge and reached over in an attempt to pull him out while Volt squealed in panic behind them. After what seemed like hours, the pair was able to grab the panicking Pokemon and began to pull him back into the boat. As Adrian pulled, his eyes wandered to the side of the canal. The gondola had stopped in front of a small building resembling a café. Adrian couldn't move his eyes. Sitting on a bench in front of the café was a beautiful young lady. She appeared to be distressed and alone.
"Hey!' he screamed at the young lady. "Are you all right? Do you need any help?" he cried.
The young lady looked up with a shocked expression on her face. Without a word, she got up and ran down a dark alley. Adrian couldn't stop staring until a sudden force pulled him towards the water. With a final pull, Adrian and the gondolier pulled the small, shivering Pokemon onto the boat. Spark stared at Adrian angrily until Volt elbowed him in the side. Both Pokemon stared at Adrian with a confused expression on their face.
Adrian looked at Spark apologetically. "I'm sorry," he managed to say through his embarrassment. "I don't know what came over me. It won't happen again."
The gondola began to resume its voyage. Spark and Volt huddled together in the floor. Despite his previous excitement, Adrian was unable to do anything except stare into the distance, lost in his thoughts.
