Zoey Brooks' dream was to be a fashion designer.
She was nineteen and in second year at RISD for fashion design, along with her boyfriend Chase Matthews, who was at Brown University, only 20 minutes away, for writing. Zoey was also a person who didn't expect the expected, or unexpected. She never really thought about the future at all, in fact.
That's why she was surprised when Chase proposed to her after high school. I mean, yes she loved him, she knew in her heart that she did, but was she ready to commit? She really wasn't. It was too soon to think about the future.
That's why she turned him down.
Of course she did it gently, telling him she just wasn't ready right now, but if he gave her a couple of years, she could be. He understood and they remained together with no problems.
But now, spending time with her boyfriend, she knew it in her heart. Now she was ready to settle down with the boy she has and always will love in her heart. She first realized it the first day of second year college.
Sometimes, you just know what to do. This was Zoey's case and she was going to take it. On a Monday afternoon, she drove all the way to Brown University and waited in Chase's dorm room as he finished his last class.
Chase was definitely surprised to see her. Zoey rushed up to her boyfriend and kissed him long and tenderly with so much force, Chase was nearly knocked backwards, but he deepened the kiss.
Once Zoey broke apart from Chase after a good long minute, she smiled brightly.
"My answer to your question is yes," she breathed. Chase looked confused. Zoey intertwined their hands.
"Yes?" he asked. She nodded, wondering why it took her over a year to decide.
"Yes, I'll marry you Chase Matthews. If you still want me," she said. The look on Chase's face was priceless, full of shock, wonder and love. He then smiled and kissed her.
"Of course I still want you Miss. Zoey Brooks-soon-to-be-Matthews," he murmured in her ear. She smiled as she settled into her fiancée's arms. She looked up to him, smiling.
"But I want to design my own wedding dress," she added with a shy smile.
Ok, short, but the word limit was 500, and I did it in…386 words. So, I hope you liked it you guys. I know it's uber short, but it's supposed to be.
