The broadcast cut off after that bloodshed. The only thing that could be known for certain was that there were two people left. Some boy from three and Alexis Castle. Things had been a whirlwind of emotion the day of the reaping, and Kate Beckett had not left Richards's castle's side since. Currently they were sitting side by side hands clutched. There were no words.
There couldn't even feel relief because she wasn't safe yet. Kate turned slowly to Rick. Wanting to give words of hope and remind him of how smart his daughter was But she couldn't bring herself to say anything. So she instead burrowed herself to him wrapping her arms around him. He immediately reacted and shifted them so that he could bury his head in her neck. They both needed this comfort. Kate ran her hands up in down his back soothingly. She stilled as he shuddered in a breath and pulled back to look at her.
"She's going to win," he proclaimed like it was a fact.
And it was the first time in this whole damn thing that he allowed himself to hope. Kate felt the ghost of a smile on her lips she leaned her forehead against his.
"Yes," she whispered softly.
