Murderous Surprise

A white panther sat on a rock. There was rustling in the bushes but the panther took no notice. A purple mountain lion pounced out of the bushes. The panther jumped at the last minute and landed on the mountain lion's back.

"Blaze, why do you try to attack me? I am the strongest in this group. I could smell you from far off. What are trying to do?" asked the panther.

"I was trying to test your skills Rouge. Who knows, maybe, you got rusty," answered Blaze.

"That will never happen," Rouge answered.

The rest of the group arrived. All of them were the pets of rich girls that loved them dearly. They enjoyed their fancy life and hate when their masters were upset. It hurt them internally to see them hurt in any way. But, usually, life was easy for the group. They imagined living on top of the world till the day they die. What they didn't know was that something horrible was going to happen to them.

"Wait, where is Marine? I know she doesn't like to miss our monthly gathering. What prevented her to fail to attend this meeting?" questioned Rouge.

The cream rabbit, Cream, replied, "She wanted to stay behind this time because she had a bad feeling something terrible might happen to the masters. Her staying behind was a protective precaution."

"I understand. Thank you, Cream. Since everyone is present that is supposed to lets star the meeting shall we."

The rest of the day was spent talking about neighborhood news, discussing the masters' live, reporting upcoming events, and practicing fighting skills. By the time the meeting was over, the sun was setting. The animals longed to be home in their masters' embraces, so the group hiked to the lake house the masters were staying at. The blissful group was happy to be home, but stopped in their tracks when they were inside the residence. The room was covered in pools of blood; their masters' bodies were cold and unmoving. Marine was unconscious in a corner of the room. On every wall in the blood of their loved ones was written, "You deserve this for the PAST." The group ran to Marine sensing that she was clinging to the last of her life. She slowly became alert to the faces of her six friends staring concerned for her health.

"My dearest friends, I am terribly sorry I couldn't prevent this awful fate," Marine stated weakly.

"Don't apologize!" answered Tikal weeping for her fallen friend, "You'll get better. You'll live through this!"

"I'm afraid I won't. Where is Master? I'd like to smell her sweet scent one last time," Marine begged.

After learning where her master's body laid, Marine slowly walked to the corpse. The effort caused her wounds to painfully reopen, and she often fell to the floor overcome with pain and gasping for breath, but she wouldn't accept anyone's help. Finally, she reached the carcass. She laid down smelled her master's scent, sighed, and closed her eyes. The six friends cried as they smelled the life drain from Marine's body.

Rouge walked up, still chocking with tears, laid her paw on Marine's head and whispered, " Meet you by the window my raccoon friend."
