It was a quiet, calm day at Xavier's School for the Gifted. Scott was busily working and tweaking his new motorcycle, fixing anything that was the least bit loose, Storm was in her classroom, seated at her desk, reading, and Rogue was in her room studying some books that were given to her by Xavier, that had to do with her mutant condition. Within the past few weeks, things had seemed to slow down significantly, not that any of the X-Men had a problem with it. There weren't any big, new missions to be sent on, classes were going smoothly, at the beginning of a new term, and everyone seemed to be calmer.

Scott and Storm had begun dating just two months back, and everything was going well. Ever since Jean was killed in a battle with Mystique 6 months ago, the two had found comfort in another that was also close to her. And their closeness brought them to a new level of friendship. They had begun fighting as a team, knowing each others' strengths and weaknesses, and Storm had moved into Scott's room. She'd begun taking Jean's place as the one who would throw ceramic discs at him, so he could practice using his 'gift', and he'd sometimes taken the place as second teacher during her classes, giving the students a chance to get used to seeing the two together.

It was almost a similar case for Bobby and Rogue, except they weren't dating. In fact, they had decided a while back, that dating would be the farthest thing from what they needed. They'd been spending a lot of time together, mostly just talking, and keeping each other company. Rogue had confided in Bobby of a man that left her a year or so back, and that he still had a strong hold on her heart, no matter how hard she tried to forget about him, and move on. Bobby had understood, feeling he was worthy of her trust, taking comfort that they each had someone to hold on to.  And when Xavier and Rogue had made the discovery that her condition had everything to do with her trusting and feeling at ease with the person that would touch her, Bobby had been the first to make skin-to-skin contact with her.

It was like everything was good and well again. After the events that had happened, everyone had managed to find some way to cope with the changes. And everyone had begun to move on with his or her lives.

Except for one Sunday afternoon, when everyone was alone, in their individual courtiers, when their worlds were shaken again. All that they'd become sure of would be given a chance to prove itself strong, when the rumble of Scott's old motorcycle broke through everyone's train of thought. The one thing they'd all thought to never happen, had happened.

Wolverine was back.
