Hotch stared. He just stared. He stared at the nameplate, "Haley Hotchner." He stared at the empty dirt patch. He stared at the barren ground. As far as he could see it was dark. Not outside, though. Through his eyes it was dark.

"She knows."

Hotch looked up. He knew it was Rossi who was behind him. Rossi had made a habit of visiting Hotch and Haley at the cemetery. "What?"

"She knows that it'll be okay."

Hotch sighed. "She knows that Jack and I love her. She knows we'll miss her."

"And she knows that you are doing everything you can to raise Jack. And that's what counts."

"Does it, Dave?"

"Yeah. It does."

Hotch smiled a little. Rossi always made him feel better. In a brotherly love sort of way. He knew his whole team was there for him. But it was still hard to see through the darkness.

He just stared. He stared at the emptiness. At the darkness.

All of a sudden, he noticed a spot of light. He rubbed his eyes. I must be tired, he thought. It was true. He hadn't been getting any sleep the last week. The spot of light was growing, inch by inch. Hotch was confused. It grew to cover most of the grave. He looked up. He saw a ray of light shining through the trees. Originating from the sky, it floated down to the ground to shine on the darkness.

Rossi put his hand on Hotch's right shoulder. "It's her, Aaron."

Hotch smiled, and let a lone tear fall from his eye. "It's Haley. It's an angel."

Rossi gave Hotch's shoulder a squeeze and walked away. Hotch still stared. He stared at the ray of light penetrating the darkness. "Angel," he laughed. "Haley an angel. Watching Jack and me from heaven."
