Hi guys! Here's my new story. I wrote this during my literature lecture... Oh well, writing is considered as literature, right? :).
I know it's a bit late for a Valentine's Day story, but well, better late than never!

As always, thank you Cindy for your very precious help.

SMILE

"You stole my heart,
and you're the one to blame.
And that's why I smile,
It's been a while since every day
and everything has felt this right"

Smile – Avril Lavigne

When a stream of sunshine pouring through the window awoke her, Monica rubbed her blue eyes, and opened them reluctantly, her eyes landing on two vanilla candles lit on her bedside table.

Oh, Chandler.

Knowing his wife would be awake, Chandler opened their bedroom door and came in very quietly. He opened the blinds slowly - as if he wanted to make sure the light wouldn't be too blinding, and Monica saw petals of roses all over the floor, from the door to the bed.

Chandler tiptoed among the flowers, managed to make his way to the bed and gently kissed Monica's forehead. She smiled widely, looking bemused,

"What is all of this for?"

She moved to get up, but Chandler stopped her by placing his hands on her shoulders. "Wait, wait. Stay in bed." He pushed her back gently on the bed and hurried out of the room.

Monica raised an eyebrow but did not ask any question. She simply sat back on the bed, her purple pillows behind her back, and patiently waited for Chandler.

He came back in a few seconds later, clumsily holding a tray. He came closer to the bed and cautiously put the tray on Monica's knees.

"So, I made you some coffee. And here's some fruit, but I can also steal the kids' cereals if you want me to", he said with a wide grin.

Monica stared at him with sparkling eyes; she was grinning like a child who had just tore open a gift wrap to find her favorite toy inside of it. At that moment, her happiness and excitement were so contagious that anyone seeing her with that grin on her face would have started smiling too.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Mon'", he smiled.

She leaned towards him and took his face in her hands, her thumbs slowly and gently caressing his cheeks.

"You are such a perfect husband", she whispered before kissing his soft and warm lips. Their mouths parted for a second, which allowed her to add a muffled "I love you so, so much, Chandler".

She did; she did love him so much.

After eight years of marriage, he was still able to surprise her, anytime, on any occasion.
He still made her laugh with his silly jokes. He was still as romantic and as sweet as he had been when they first got together.

Eight years had gone by since the day they made each other the endless promise of being together for the rest of their lives, and yet, it was like nothing had changed. It was like nothing would ever change, ever.

"I think I may love you even more than that", he said with a smile.

"I wouldn't bet on that", she winked.

He took the tray off the bed, put it on the bedside table, blew out the candles and climbed under the blanket, snuggling up to Monica.

He surrounded her with his arms, patted the small of her back and touched his nose to hers, both of them exchanging a dazzling smile.

She loved him so much. They loved each other so much.

Nothing in their lives had ever felt so right before.

Neither of them had ever been this happy with anyone else before.

And that was something they wouldn't change for anything, anything in the world.
