My name is Gemma Stebbings, I'm a 16 year old and a mutant. Mutants, the people you hear about on TV, and in the newspapers. My parents tell me to hide and stay silent, but I'm not ashamed of what I am. I was born like this it's not my fault I'm a mutant, I didn't chose to be, so deal.

But you know, that's just it people can't deal. They do stupid things to us because were different. Things like lock us up, beat us up. They use us for experiments like animal. Apart from no one campaigns to stop them. Mutant get treated like sub-humans, like were unworthy, unfit to live. All because humans are scared of us.

Have you ever noticed how human are afraid of things they don't understand? I have. do you know what humans do when their afraid? They hurt, and beat, and try to make themselves appeared big and bold and unafraid. But inside there little children scared, lost and confused.

You pick up a newspaper and splashed across the front a title like "Mutant menace! Mutants strike again" But then if you read the article it's actually about some kid getting the stabbed in the street because he had blue hair and the killer thought he was a mutant.

Then you have people like magneto that have decided to eliminate all humans and leave a world of mutants. I look at him and think no wonder the hate mutants with him to base their opinions on. Next there Xavier, who's all peace between mutants and humans. Hate to bust his bubble but like that will never happen.

I mean we've had laws that say no hate crimes on blacks for years, but people still kill them and beat them up because of the colour of their skin. Mutants have a different genetic code, for gods sake! If two groups of people that a almost identical expect for the colour of their skin can't get on.

What hope is there for us?
