He glanced backwards for a brief moment to look at her. And she had glanced up to look at him at precisely the same moment as he. Their eyes met, and her face flushed red, while his cheeks only had the slightest tint of pink adorned on them. She looked back down, and he turned back towards his front.
It was a beautiful day out, and they were walking down the street, coming near the trail they entered the forest to get home on. Kyo led the way, while Tohru followed shyly behind. It hadn't been that long since she came back to the Sohma's house, and she was so glad she got to stay. She had never wanted to leave. Yuki was like her brother, and Shigure was like an uncle to her. Kyo…she didn't know what to make of Kyo at the moment. He was a mystery. A true mystery.
Yuki had opened up, and wasn't as shy as he once was. Shigure tried to suppress his pervertedness every once in a while, just to satisfy Tohru. Tohru was like a part of their family, and they would stop at nothing to protect her. Especially Kyo. And though she was embarrassed to say it aloud, Tohru was glad that Kyo was so overprotective of her. It made her feel special, like she was important. It made her want to hug him.
But that would end up a disaster. He would transform into a cat, and get all angry at her, yelling and screaming at her with rage. She didn't want that, and yet she still wanted to hug him. She had been trying to come up with an excuse just to hug him, but couldn't think of anything. Her mind was blank.
They were on the trail now, and Tohru was oddly quiet. Kyo noticed this, but didn't know that she was thinking hard. She was going to hug him, and needed an excuse to do so. She had used every one in the book, and there were no more left. She had used the old one, 'I just bumped into you on accident!' but that had grown old, and he wouldn't believe her anymore. Then there was the ever so famous, 'I was scared! I thought I heard something behind me!' but the results were always the same.
Then it hit her. All she wanted to do was carry him home in his cat form, because then he would cuddle up to her, hoping she didn't notice, when she did notice in fact. He would snuggle up to her, and fall asleep, only to be awakened by Shigure's loud mouth when they got home. She had only carried him home as a cat once, and that was after she had discovered his 'other form'. She was determined, and had found a new excuse.
Tohru crept quietly up behind him, and jumped on his back. He gasped, and there was a puff of smoke. When it cleared, there was Kyo, in his fluffy orange cat form. She couldn't help but smile down at him.
"What'd ya' do that for!?" he yelled up at her. He began to walk away with his clothes, but then realized she had his clothes folded over her arm. He sighed, and stayed there, staring up at the girl. She grinned and picked him up, cuddling him to her chest.
"I just wanted to carry you home!" she said, and they continued on their way home, all the while an orange cat was blushing (which must have looked funny on a cat) in Tohru's arms.
sorry for the shortness.
