Little Kunai

King Dedede was relaxing at the Rainbow Resort with Mr. Shine and when he noticed a ball flying through the air, at first he thought that someone had lost it when it did something that no ball could possibly do.

It rotated, moved up down and then headed for the Dream Spring at a leisurely pace some 50 feet above the ground, it also gave off a creepy energy that made his feathers stand on end.

King Dedede, with a bad feeling in his gut, found himself running for the springs, faster than he'd ever run in his life and made it just in the nick of time.

He grabbed the Star Rod and gave the mysterious ball a good whack and Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright attacked the strange object. It managed to evade them and ducked into the water. King Dedede dove in after it, after an hour's search the disgruntled penguin king finally gave up, the Dream Spring was as big as a lake.

"We have to hide the Star Rod." He muttered to himself. "Until that thing can be dealt with."

The Sun and Moon circled uneasily in the sky as the penguin king paced around.

"Divide the rod into seven pieces to my most trusted friends and tell them to guard it with their lives while I search for that weird ball."

He gave it to Mr. Shine and dove back into the water.

Flash forward several weeks later.

King Dedede groaned as he watched that irritating pink puffball head for the Dream Spring, he had to stop the fool before it was too late. He hadn't been able to find the strange ball anywhere, but the spring had been giving off that same eerie energy, which had grown stronger every day and the plucky penguin knew that it was still hiding in there.

He ran for it and tackled Kirby, dragging him and pleading with him, but Kirby was deaf to his pleas. He was quickly knocked away after they came to the Dream Spring and terror froze his vocal chords. He knew something bad was going to happen, he just didn't know what.

Kirby triumphantly placed the Star Rod on the pedestal and that malignant energy filled the air and the ball came out of hiding. They both jumped back, Kirby's face in shock, eyes comically wide and both of them freaked out.

"I tried to tell you! I tried to warn you! But no! You wouldn't listen to me!" King Dedede howled as they ran around frantically.

"You should have told me from the beginning!" Kirby shot back.

"Yeah and you'd believe me!"

King Dedede inhaled Kirby and the Star Rod and shot them into the sky. He hoped for the sake of Dream Land that Kirby could pull this off.
