"No! Nononononono! I, I-I- CAN DO THIS! IF I, if I just-" Who was shouting? It sounded like.... The Doctor? But, why would he be shouting so desperately? Why would he, the man who could do anything, be so desperate? Why- wait. She couldn't hear them any more. Why, why was she feeling so odd? Then she heard him again. "Astrid Peth. The girl who looked out at the stars and dreamt of another sky. You don't have to dream anymore."
"I'm falling! I-I'm falling! Stop me falling, please." Astrid couldn't say anything but that. Why couldn't she say what she wanted to?
"Astrid," She twitched her eyes over to him, that incredible man. "You're not falling." He smiled sadly and walked over to her. "You're flying. You know, there's a very old tradition, on Sto." He bent down and kissed her, for the second, and last time. "Now you don't have to dream, you can travel forever." She smiled as she dissolved into space-blue stardust.
But as she flew away, he heard her last and final words. "Thank you."
Astrid Peth abandoned all Earthly connections for the right to fly. And fly she did
