A/N: I've had this idea for over a year, so I thought: It's summer, perfect time to write it. It's only a little one-shot but I still like it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Neville's POV

Flaming red hair, chocolate brown eyes, a sprinkle of freckles across a petite, rounded nose. Perfection.

Neville sighed as he watched her, Ginny Weasley, walk down the crowded street of Hogsmeade with her friends. There was something about the 5th year; she wasn't the same girl he took to the Yule Ball: she had grown up.

She laughed with her friends, the sound sending a tingle up and down Neville's spine. She smiled, her red hair whipping in the wind. What he wouldn't give to run his fingers through her hair. She laughed again, then turned her head: eyes locking with his.

Neville got lost in her chocolate eyes as she got closer. The smile on her face grew, giving Neville a fluttering feeling in the pit of his stomach. Her arms were outstretched, reminding him of a heaven-sent angel. Neville opened his arms, ready to catch the running girl. He smiled, the flutters in his stomach getting stronger. She was so close, 20 feet, 15 feet; Neville could see the sparkle in her eyes, could almost count the freckles on her face and...

She was gone, past him in a blur of flaming red. He heard someone, a guy, say her name in greeting and her squeal of delight in response.

Neville turned around, eyes closed. He squeezed the tighter when he heard her voice, then quickly opened his eyes.

"Harry!" She squeaked. She had her arms wrapped around Harry like she hadn't seen him in years. She had a look of pure adoration of her face and underneath, a hint of love. Neville knew at that moment, that he'd never have a chance. He felt his stomach drop at the realization, the flutters going dormant.

Ginny turned, Harry's hand tightly in hers, and walked back to her friends.

"Hey Neville." She said as she past, giving Neville a view of her chocolate eyes. And although he knew he'd never have a chance, a horde of flutters still erupted in the pit of his stomach.
