On January 20, April gave birth to a baby boy, a small tiny baby boy, named Raphael Emile Godin. Raphael was six and half weeks premature. His right leg was dislocated; there were many things wrong with him. He also had a tail and a bump filled with fluid and fat. The Doctor told April and Raphael's grandmother that if he lived for the first 48 hours that his chance for survival would double and his chances would still be very slim. Raphael pulled through, but he had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks, and only a few people were able to visit him while in ICU. These people were his mother and father, also his grandparents were allowed to go in the room to see him, but only my mom and my grandmother went for the first few days. At the same time April also was sick from her Caesarian Section.
The first time I saw him, I wasn't able to hold him because he was very sick and weak, and any amount of germs could have killed him, a few days later when I went back April allowed me to hold him. That's when I realized that Raphael had blue eyes and no hair. That day the

In February, April, Raphael, and his Grammy went to Moncton, to see what could be done for his bump on his behind, but he was sent home the following day. This kept going for several months. One day April was called to bring Raphael down to take tests and a MRI. The Doctor was testing to see if Raphael's bump was attached to his spine or not. The good news came in about a month later that when Raphael was to go back to Moncton that it would be a day surgery, because the tail and bump was just a few inches from the spine and that it was no problem to remove it.
On May 13, April got the call that Raphael was going to be operated on the following Wednesday, which was the 19th. She was told that the Doctor wanted to see Raphael on the 17th, so she left on Friday the 14th. Once there the Doctor called to tell her that he no longer had to see the baby, but to be there for the morning of the 19th. It took three hours for Raphael's operation to be over and done with.

The Doctor told April that the baby may never walk again, and that he also might be on diapers the rest of his life. After the operation, Raphael was up in the crib. He wanted to go on the floor right away. This was just what the family was waiting to hear. The Doctor said that Raphael would be coming home on Monday morning, if there were no more complications to deal with.
I hope that everything turns out great for him in the long run. Raphael went through a lot of things to be where he is, and that's why I believe that babies have special angels and a special God to watch over them.
