What May Lie Ahead…
"Catch them!" a voice of iron ordered the steel giant as we dashed through the hallway, looking for a way out, not knowing where we are, not knowing how we got here, all we knew is that we must get out. We dashed pass the corners, trying to escape, we ran and ran but to no avail, we were trapped, no place to run, cornered by the steel giants with no escape…. Or so we thought… We pushed ourselves against the wall, as they got closer and closer, we didn't know what to do… We pushed ourselves against the wall and it flipped open, pushing us of a height further up then the skies, we fell to jagged rocks bellow, to what was supposedly our demise, the last memory of the place being a mountain of stone….
I woke up in a beach, one unfamiliar, but my brother, the boy I had been with though that awful nightmare, was nowhere to be seen, I have no idea how long it has been, how many times this has been, since the beginning of our journey. I searched desperately for my dear brother, younger brother who was no more than 4 years old, after searching for what may have been eternity, I had given up, alone in this beach I began to take my leave, when suddenly, a rustle, a raise in the sand, I prepared for what may be a creature we had not seen before, but to my surprise, it was no more than my little brother stuck in the sand, a tear down my face, before I came running towards my brother with a sigh of relief.
We had left the beach, scouting the place for other beings like us, when my little brother found a village of stone and materials we had never seen before. Inside the village we heard to voices of people rushing pass us, a language we did not understand… A time we are unsure of…. A place we have never seen… We passed through the village blind, unsure where to go, when a man came talking in the language we heard before, we fled out of fear, out of not knowing what may come… Yet the man had approached us once more, showing a face of concern, there I knew he meant no harm. Though neither of us knew what the other was saying, we still understood each other; he continued trying to talk, awaiting a reply… But after hours of trying, he had a change of thought, instead of trying to communicate verbally, he gave us shelter, food and water, he gave us that which we needed, and there he said the one thing I understood back then "I will protect you."
Years after, we learnt about this time, the language they speak and people around us, we went to school, learnt new things throughout our time, this was all true till one day… "Grandpa, we're home." Said I, like I have for the years I've stayed within this time, there I saw the man who took care of us, loved us and cherished us, down on the ground in a pool of blood, next to a man with a gun in his hand, holding a pocket watch made of gems, he looked our way and pointed his gun at us, I took my brothers hand and ran through the door, we went to the police and told them the situation, when the man with the gun shot me and my brother by the back.
Again, we repeat that has happened countless times living a time further into the future, unable to die… Unable to live… from that point on, I lived on a solemn oath to never let those loved by me die, to make sure no one lives a life of sorrow, to make sure that it will not happen again… What may lie ahead, who knows, but one thing is for sure there will always be death where there is life…
