… what?

Just a simple D/S oneshot. Set after Graduation, with some flashbacks.

What Matters Most

Shego glanced out of the curtain they were supposed to go through and walk up for the award, it was packed to the brim with cheerful and excited people… it was… faintly familiar. A feeling of deja vu swam over her as she remembered her teen years briefly, but she was broken by the incoherent murmuring behind her. She glanced up to see Drakken nervously trying to fix the collar of his lab coat and apparently too frustrated to do so. A part of her wanted to tell him to pull himself together, but instead she found herself walking over to him and fixing his collar. He looked bitterly to the far exit.

"You'll be fine. You just take the award, thank them, and then we'll go home," her smiled faultered, briefly remembering there was no lair…. and feeling strange at saying home, 'But why, I've said it before.'

"I'm a laughing stock," his face fell and he looked tired.

"As opposed to normal," the sarcasm ran out like normal, but she regretted it, up until a flicker of a smile ghosted across Drakken's face.

"Look at me Shego, I'm a failure. I can't take over the world, but I sure as heck can save it…. the only ones here that aren't random citizens are other villians…. and I don't think they'll welcome this all with open…" Shego covered his mouth and took a deep breath.

"Dr. D, listen to yourself. Your worried about what a bunch of losers are going to think of you. Who cares. You did something they could never dream of," she smirked, but his brow rose in puzzlement, "You beat Kim Possible… and not just beat her… you did it at he own game. You have everything a villain wants. To defeat your enemy and gain recognition from the world. Your about to receive a metal for your achievement on global proportions and you didn't even steal anything to do so. You've beat them all."

"Thank you Shego," he smiled, she saw him look at her hands where she'd kept them placed on the button she'd fixed by his collar, "But you forgot something…"

"The ceremony is about to begin," said the lady near the curtain, her smiling beaming…. Admiring.

Shego went out beside Drakken, glancing at him as the applause erupted and boomed. This was all for him, the cheers and the screams of joy. She kept watching him as they walked and the President began to speak. He looked lost as he looked at everything, like he was in shock and slight terror. She beamed again, he'd done it. She'd been here for it too, he'd finally got what he wanted. To be recognized, not shunned, not taunted or mocked, but to be seen as a genius. She thought about what could have happened without his idea, world overrun by aliens, everyone dead…. Her beam became a smile, remembering back to when he'd vanished in the light, the panic she'd felt… at… she sighed a little. 'Maybe Kimmie's right… maybe there is…. Something.' She smiled at Drakken as he locked eyes with her and the metal glistened from around his neck. It was an instant and she felt herself fly towards him as vines wrapped around them both. She felt her face go flush just like his.

"You forgot the most… important thing," Shego wasn't sure if he was talking to her or the flower, but if he said something about the flower she was going to kill him on global television.

"Hmm," she didn't know when she'd lost her ability to speak.

"I couldn't have done any of this…." He locked eyes with her, and so help him if he said anything but her at that moment, "Without you."

It was a brief contact of eyes, the cameras were still flashing. And suddenly every moment they'd ever spent together; good and bad flooded back to her. She saw what he'd been thinking, this was what had been swimming in his head when he checked out of the world, in a manner of speaking. However she stopped her mind rushing as she remembered the Moodulator incidents, because her hands had flung around his neck as the plants pulled them closer. She was as shocked as he was when their lips crashed into each other. The massive eruption of cheers that followed were pushed aside as Drakken's shaky hand wrapped around her waist. Drakken was right, and twice in one week she might add, the most important thing out of all of this… was that they needed each other.

The….. End?

"Are dy gonna keep kissing or are ve gonna have to get a hose," asked Killigan to no one in particular.

End!
