There had once been a house in the German countryside.

It was a large house, enough of a distance from society to keep its residents as private as they liked. It almost seemed like it had been taken out of a fairytale. The two boys who lived there seemed as if they had as well.

Everyone knew about the Gavin brothers, those tragic boys, both well dressed and with nearly identical blonde hair. Their parents had past away in unknown circumstances a long while ago, but they never complained. The eldest, Kristoph, at eighteen was old enough to become the legal guardian of his nine year old brother Klavier. It seemed like such a noble thing to do.

Kristoph had been the pillar of Klavier's existence. Klavier had relied on Kristoph, more than he probably should have. His feelings of devotion towards Kristoph…

…They had been stronger than they probably should have been as well.

But that had all changed after that one case. Klavier had never fully understood why, he understood that Kristoph was unhappy that Phoenix Wright would be defending Zak instead of him, but all the same Kristoph had helped Klavier by tipping him off about Phoenix's forgery.

And yet after the trial Kristoph did the most unexpected thing – he befriended the newly disbarred Phoenix.

Klavier had never understood it and never got a reason as to why out of his brother. After that the two were distanced from each other, hardly speaking at all. At first Klavier found this hard to cope with. They had always been so close. But after a while he found that being in another country with a career ahead of him forced him to be too busy to dwell on it and carved him into an independent person.

The years went on and it didn't even surprised Klavier to find out that Kristoph had an apprentice he knew nothing about. Though it did surprise him to discover that apprentice had got Kristoph arrested.

Oddly, he couldn't bring himself to be angry about that either way. His estranged relationship with Kristoph had left him simply curious to find out about what had happened and who had brought him down.

And find out he certainly did, though a lot more than just the first case that had got his brother arrested…

The truth came out. The truth of Kristoph's corruptions, of his lies, of his murders. All in front of Klavier's eyes. Until the brother he had once loved was left on the stand, exposed for the devil that he really was.

It had been hard for him. Even after such a long absence he felt himself still falling under Kristoph's grasp towards the end of the trial, before finally being rescued from it by that friend he had made in Apollo.

And he wished so much that he'd been able to talk to Kristoph, before or after this had all occurred. But Kristoph refused to see him after the trial. Any mysteries he had left in his head regarding his brother would remain so for all time now.

Because today was the execution day of Kristoph Gavin.

The end that came for only the most corrupt criminals.

And Klavier had not gone to see him in his final moments of life.

Instead he had gone back to that house in that forgotten German countryside, his countryside. So long it had not been used, but it still belonged to the Gavin family. He wondered if the people from the villages of their childhood would even be able to believe what had become of those fairytale Gavin brothers now.

He couldn't look at any part of the house without seeing a memory of Kristoph, the two young boys playing together, studying together, and practising music together. They were always together. Forever.

But now they would never be together again, those days were gone.

But as long as he could see the memories of this house, that brother would be with him.

Never and forever.
