Amy Rose had given up. On what exactly? She didn't really know. She didn't really know much of anything as she stood on the top ledge of the highest building in station square. Well, that's technically not true. She knew one thing: She was going to jump.
Amy's face was void of emotion, her lips curved into a dissatisfied frown, despite the extreme emotions going through her mind. She kept that blank face even though tears could be seen rolling down her rosy cheeks. She looked down. She was determined to fall. To end her life by falling into the streets below.
She observed the city, everybody was rushing to get where they needed to be, as was per usual in a busy city such as Station Square. She thought about the people below as ants, each going different directions in order to contribute to the hive. And though their movements seem random, it's calculated through a process we have yet to fully understand through years of research.
As she solemnly looked down, she could see some of them pointing up in confusion at her, maybe tapping their friends to get them to look at the girl im red about to jump, before grabbing their phones in panic. Presumably to call the police or an ambulance in a desperate attempt to save her life. But it was too late.
Amy had jumped.
And Amy was falling.
She could feel her heart flutter as the wind blew through her quills. She felt at peace, even though her eyes where still wet with tears. She felt comfort and certainty that her pain was finally going to end. And after what felt like forever, she made impact. But not with the concrete.
Amy was confused. Is this it? Am I dead? Is this what it feels like? She was scared. She didn't want to open her eyes. So she didn't. She waited and waited for something, anything to happen, but nothing did.
After what seemed like a half hour, she gave up. She opened her eyes, and what she saw startled her. She opened her eyes to see the tear filled eyes of Shadow the Hedgehog, who was carrying her in his arms.
For a moment, Amy's world stopped. She couldn't feel anything. All emotions fled from her for a few solid minutes. But after the initial shock, she felt sensory overload. She could feel Shadow carrying her in his arms. She could hear the distant sounds of sirens.
"Amy? AMY! Thank god, your awake" Shadow yelled In a panicked state. He relentlessly hugged Amy, even though both parties where crying non-stop at this point.
Shadow whispered into her ear, constantly repeating: "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, please forgive me..."
Amy gave no response. She simply kept her blank expression. She kept her expression as Shadow hugged her. She kept the expression as Shadow begged her to speak. She kept her expression as the ambulance crew picked her up and carried her into the vehicle. It was only at the hospital, alone in her cot, that she let her tears flow. Amy Rose had given up. On what exactly? On hiding her emotions. Amy Rose cried. And she didn't hold back.
