Blaine shivered in the cold Lima air and rewrapped his scarf tighter around his neck. It was he day before Christmas Eve, and he knew he should be at home with his family, but he had been restless all day. Deciding to go for a drive, Blaine ended up in a small town about an hour away from his home in Westerville.
Seeing a coffee shop called the Lima Bean, he curly haired boy ducked inside to avoid the cold. Inside was warmer. Quiet music filled the background, and he could hear quiet chatter from patrons sitting at the small tables.
A short line was in front of the counter, and Blaine took his spot. Arriving at the front, Blaine rattled off his coffee order, and moved to the next counter to wait for it. A poster for a Glee club competition caught his eyes and he did not notice the barista bringing his coffee.
"Medium drip for Blaine?"
Blaine turned around and was stunned at the sight of the barista. He was tall with perfectly styled chestnut hair. The clothes under the Lima Bean apron fit the teenager in all the right places. Blaine thought he could get lost in the barista's eyes.
"Oh-uh thanks." Blaine stuttered out, hand brushing the boy's as he grabbed his coffee. He turned around to find a table, but paused and turned back when he heard his name called.
"My break is in ten minutes, wait for me?" The cute barista asked.
"Of course!" Blaine replied cheerfully, moving away to find a table by the window, a slight skip in his step.
Blaine had finished his coffee by the time the barista arrived, holding two coffees.
"My name's Kurt Hummel," he said, handing Blaine one of the cups.
"Blaine Anderson."
"What are you doing here only a few days before Christmas? I've never seen you around here before."
Blaine laughed. "I live in Westerville. I guess I just needed a break."
The two teenagers talked through Kurt's break, but soon he had to leave. Kurt scribbled something on a napkin, and handed it to Blaine, before bidding farewell and returning to his post.
On the napkin, Kurt had written:
Call me maybe? 555-0101
Blaine smiled at the cheesy message, and added Kurt's number to his contacts. Maybe going for a drive two days before Christmas wasn't such a bad idea after all.
