The two boys say by the fire in the Gryffindor common room, playing a nice game of Wizard's Chess. Ron, apparently deep in thought, gets put in check by Harry's queen. The soft words of "Checkmate" falling out of Harry's mouth seemed foreign and confusing to both boys.

"Ron, what's going on?" Harry said, trying to sound casual. There had to be something bothering his friend to make him loose that quickly.

Ron shift uncomfortably, wanting to tell his friend and at the same time just wanting to tell him that he let him win. "I.. Uh.. nothing, mate."

"Oh come on, Ron, you don't loose to wizarding chess that easily." Harry said, crossing his arms. "Talk to me."

Ron looked pensive for a moment before nodding, and standing from his chair. "Alright, but lets go somewhere more private, okay?"

Harry nodded, and followed Ron to the boy's dormitories. The dorms were empty, mostly because of the Christmas holidays, mostly because it was in the middle of the day.

Harry sat on his bed, and Ron sat beside him. "Alright." Harry said, looking at Ron expectantly.

Ron remained quiet, and then, as soon as the words starting pouring out of his mouth, his face because red, especially the tips of his ears. "I uh... don't really know how to put it.. It's just... I've been thinking about this for awhile... and I mean, after I kissed Hermione I-"

Harry cut him off, smiling, slapping his hand on Ron's back. "You kiss Hermione, mate? That's great! How was it? Are you together now?" Harry didn't seem to realize that this wasn't the point of Ron's speech.

Ron faltered, and took a moment to pick up his voice again, "Yeah. We're... not together... I mean, that's why I'm talking to you, mate.." Ron waved Harry off when Harry tried to speak again, "No. Let me get this out. If I don't, I won't ever say it." Harry remained silent. "Like I said, I've been thinking about it for awhile. I mean, long before I kissed Hermione. Then, after I kissed Hermione, I kissed Lavender, too. She didn't much appreciate it, but I had to know, okay? Then I knew... I don't like girls, mate. I haven't for awhile."

Ron waited for Harry's response, and started to stutter at Harry's shocked expression. "I.. It's.. you see... I thought that since you were raised by muggles, not wizards.. You'd understand, because muggles are usually more open minded about it, but, er, if you don't want to be my friend now-"

"No!" Harry yelped before Ron could go any further. Ron looked away, beet read. "That's not it at all, Ron. I'm just shocked. I never expected it from you. I was afraid to tell you that I am, as well. I didn't want to loose you as a friend."

"You?" Ron said, now turning to face Harry, "Seriously? I never would have suspected!"

Harry smiled, "I can say the same about you."

Ron smiled, his face turning red again, "You know, since we both are, maybe you'd like to..? I don't mean dating or anything! Just a kiss. You know. To see."

Harry grinned, "I'm game." Then boldly leaned in, his lips colliding with Ron at the halfway point. They staying, kissing, for a moment, their lips tasting the others, before pulling back.

Both stared in silence at the other before cracking up in laughter at the same time. They both laughed so hard that their arms wrapped over their waists, clutching their abdomens. Finally, when they stopped, both panting, laying back on the bed, Harry spoke.

"I'm judging from your reaction, you're thinking the same as I am."

"Yeah."

"I didn't think anyway," Harry said.

"Me neither. Let's go to lunch."

"Ok."
