Past the Norm
Celty was more than aware of Shinra's love for her. She also knew that the information broker of Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and almost all of Japan had the hots for Shizuo. Celty wasn't an idiot even though she didn't have a head. But it wasn't like she could deny it either, she was attracted to Shizuo. She only lived with Shinra because she had nowhere else to go. She supposed she could be homeless, it didn't matter that much to her, but she preferred staying in one place.
Celty mostly did jobs for Izaya because she knew otherwise he'd find a way to kill Shizuo in retaliation. Celty knew better than most how little Izaya cared for people. The only ones Izaya wouldn't kill were his younger sisters, Mairu and Kururi. Izaya didn't care about the rest of the world. Stupid sociopath, Celty couldn't help but think.
Shinra was Celty's first line of defense against Izaya. He was so unafraid of her, completely at ease even when she threatened him. Celty hated the fact that the information broker could read her so well.
Her second line of defense was Anri. Celty was really sorry to put the young girl in front of her as a shield, but she hated to face Izaya. It helped that Anri was the wielder of Saika, so Anri could hold her own against the man.
Celty had no third line of defense. When she got together with Shizuo, for one of their chats, Celty had to work hard to remain calm. She loved Shizuo's voice, his ideals, and how much he cared for his younger brother. When comparing the two, she only saw differences. Kasuka had dark brown hair, dark emotionless eyes, and a blank face constantly. It even carried over to his movies which Celty always found to be lacking. Shizuo however had his blonde hair, blue eyes, blue tinted sunglasses, and a face that was never blank. Shizuo truly wore his heart on his sleeve.
Celty would never say it or admit it to anyone, but she was in love with Shizuo Heiwajima, the monster of Ikebukuro.
The only problem was, for all that she knew and observed, she had no idea if Shizuo liked anyone. She knew he could be pretty oblivious, but he was impossible to read. Like Izaya said, Shizuo was unpredictable. A true force of nature. Izaya was just a machine. And Celty… She was above the norm.
