Was it Really Love?

Anti-EdwardxBella Fanfiction.

Note: I've been watching a lot of anti-Twilight videos that aren't actually bashing Twilight, but rather explaining why it seems so... well, stupid.

"Edward... Why are you leaving?" Bella soon cut him off after he stated he wasn't right for her. "What did I do wrong? What can I do to make it better? What can I--" strong, fierce lips caught her words and pressed them back to her mouth like they were nothing. The kiss lasted seconds, but meant so much to her.

"Bella, I don't love you anymore." And as soon as Bella tried to counter him, he was gone. Like that, disappeared like his reflection in the mirror the moment he had become a vampire.

Bella fell to the ground. Agonizing pain shot through her body, her chest, her heart. What just happened? Was he gone... for good?

Bella, after falling asleep in the forest where he left her, awoke to a man. He was helping her up, taking her to her father. Charlie was there. He did his best to carry her. The rest, to Bella, was a blur.

After months of Edward's absence, Bella began to doubt his existence was even real. They were completely in love. They were mad for each other. They were life and death. But, when Bella looks back at it, she doesn't see it that way as much.

"You're so beautiful..." Bella spoke, almost speechless.

"This is a body of a killer, Bella." He countered. He walked off, Bella chasing him. But, as soon as this happened, he was almost all over her again. Was this really love? Or was it lust. Was it all just his teenage hormones acting up.

"I won't let this happen again." He said to her while she lay in the white hospitable bed. "I won't put you in danger any longer."

"What... what are you saying? So, you can't leave me! I... no, that's not even right. You can't say that." She struggled to comprehend what he just had said to her.

"Alright, I won't leave you in danger anymore. I'll keep you safe." He said, as he kissed her forehead.

"S'not the same thing..." She said before it had gone black. She must have fallen asleep.

As soon as she looks back at these memories... she sees that it wasn't really a matter of undying love... but of lust and obsession. She needed Edward to the point she would risk her life just being around him. Being around his family. Eluding all her friends from her life. Friends that where good to her, that actually cared. Now that she thinks of it, all she did was think of Edward, do what Edward was doing, and actually did whatever Edward told her. The only thing she recalls doing for someone else was trying to save her mother from James. And bringing the topic of James to her mind, she was pretty much held hostage by Alice. And not just the serious times.

Now that she thinks of it.. she doesn't love Edward. There is more to life than just him. Instead of having nightmares about Edward, she dreams peacefully, knowing she had her time with Edward and now she has her life. And all she needs is that.
