He had rushed down the stairs as soon as he could get in control again. The reset had brought him back to his spry youth so he took them two at a time. He sprinted for the tardis, still looking ever the giraffe he always was. He really didn't want to go yet but obviously he had little choice in the matter. He could feel it building already. Once on the TARDIS the doctor started scrounging around looking for one final thing. The last thing he needed. He had it at the beginning so it was only fitting that this would be his last meal, so to speak. Fish fingers and custard, right in the fridge where he had left them. He turned around and there she was. He knew he would start seeing people before he left. Starting from the most recent to the first face his face saw, and there she was. River song standing there with her hands on her hips and a sneaky smile he knew all too well.

"Hello, Sweetie."

"River, you aren't real, so I can really truly say this. I love you, I'm sorry, and I don't want to go…fish finger?" he said as he offered her the treat.

"I know sweetie, you are always forgiven, you must go it is your time, and no thank you I'm not real and therefore could not actually eat it, plus it is revolting."

She walked over to him and gave him a small brush of the lips. He hugged her and buried his face into her curls. She stepped out of his embrace and brought him into the console room. He set the fish custard on the console, and looked around. Though nobody but him ever saw them, he always saw all of his companions from his current life before he regenerated. Maybe he was insane but it did give him a sense of peace and closure.

"dad you made it." River said as the doctor turned to see the centurion walking toward him with a sad smile.

"of course I did. Couldn't miss the big sendoff…Hello again mate." His smile warmed as tears filled the doctors eyes. He loved traveling with Clara of course, but he had missed his Ponds very much.

The doctor knew he would be seeing her soon and didn't know if he could handle it. His Amelia.

The first face this face saw would also be the last. He was her imaginary friend, and now he had so many of his own. The farther back he went the fuzzier they got. But they were all there. Just like their names. All on his tardis center panel. Always with him.

Clara would be around soon so he had to finish his little chat.

"I am regenerating for the last time." He said as he looked at his newest old friends.

"We know Sweetie. Are you ready?" River said.

"almost. I am just waiting for a few more people." He said.

"Amy will be here shortly I'm sure." Rory said with a smile.

"yes Im sure." The door opens and they all turn. Clara walks in.

"Ah and here comes your girlfriend." River says sarcastically. The doctor gives her a smile, and she walks over to her father and leans against him. Rory puts his arm around her and they look almost like the family they should have been.

Clara came in and the doctor spoke to her as he did every time pretending that none of his companions were there. That was until he saw a glimpse of her. A flash of a little red head running around. He continued with his soliloquy about how he would remember every word of this. He would too. They would be tucked away into his memories. Then he saw her, Just as he remembered her, walking down the steps toward her.

He couldn't keep up the pretense of not being able to see her. River was hard enough, but his Amelia was here to see him of so he had to acknowledge her. Raggedy man, goodnight. Now he was ready. He could rest with all of his former selves. He could sleep, and then he changed. Same man, new face, new kidneys. Here we go again….
