God, he hated them. They were just shadows, that was all, mockeries of his real best friends. They weren't real, wouldn't ever be real. And Sora and Kairi insisted on letting them hang around. Roxas and Naminé didn't want to become part of them, and so they stood alone. Sometimes when he looked at them, there image would seem to flicker.
Roxas was such an annoying twit. He wasn't anything like Sora. Maybe he'd actually go on that trip he was talking about to figure out what happened to Axel when he died. Riku hoped he would.
And hadn't Naminé already made enough of a mess? She had caused all that trouble at Castle Oblivion. And since Sora and Kairi were so forgiving, they—That was it. The difference between him and them. They were willing to forgive and forget, forgive Naminé, forgive Axel, even forgive him.
He would never understand why. If everything he had done had been done to him, he probably wouldn't ever talk to them again. He had to try to learn, though.
Besides, he needed to forgive Naminé. Kairi would never love him, not in the way he wanted, and he couldn't blame her. Her shadow was close enough. It's not like Naminé had anything better than him to speak of.
In Naminé's opinion, that was obvious. How could there be anyone better?
Standard disclaimers. I made Riku into and ass, didn't I? Eheh /
