Flaming Cake
It was their one year anniversary, and Korra thought she'd make something from the heart for Tarrlok.
Why not bake a cake?
Reading the cookbook, she carefully tried to get the sugar with the measuring cup. The sugar bag fell from the cupboard, and was soon all over the counter. Cursing under her breath, she tried to gather as much sugar grains as she could. The grains on the floor grind under her feet. Scraps of ingredients were already on the floor.
Reaching for the eggs in the fridge, she saw that there was only one egg when the recipe called for two eggs. Korra shrugged and just used the single egg.
The book called for moo-sow milk, but Tarrlok being on a strict no-dairy diet made him only have almond milk in the house. Milk was milk, right? It should taste the same, but not to Korra. How could Tarrlok stand the stuff?
It was a wonder how they stayed together after all this time.
She never used an electronic hand mixer before, so she assumed it was just as easy as turning on a switch. But the switch of the mixer was stuck, so Korra applied more pressure. The mixer went on to full power, sending wet batter in every direction.
Needless to say, Korra was going to need a long shower after she finished with this cake.
She thanked the spirits that there was enough batter to bake the cake.
Placing it into the already preheated oven, she sighed in relief as she turned the timer on for half an hour.
Once she left the room, the timer started to slow down and suddenly stopped ticking…
One Hour Later
"At least I stopped the fire before it spread out of the kitchen. It's a good thing I can fire bend. … Happy anniversary, turtleduck."
