"No, I didn't deserve it. I was simply waking you up from your nightmare."
"I don't have nightmares."
"Well, you seemed like you were." "I don't like how small your bed is."
"I like it just fine." Axel purred, sliding a leg in-between hers.

Larxene's breath caught in her throat, and she tried not to think of every part of him, pressed against her.

"You know, you don't have to sleep here."
"Oh yeah. And go and sleep in my own bed, that filth, right after I took a shower?"
"After WE took a shower." He nuzzled behind her ear, kissing her neck.
"Stop it." Larxene said, rolling over in his arms. She laid her head on his shoulder and slid an arm around his neck, running her fingers through his hair. "I might actually believe you have a heart."

Axel was quiet for a minute, absent-mindedly rubbing her back in small circles, making the surface of her skin hum with content. "Do you think it's possible?" he asked quietly, after several minutes of silence.

"Hm?" Larxene roused herself from her half-asleep stupor.

"Do you think we can have hearts?"
"I don't know. I guess it's a possibility." Axel pushed himself up to lean against the headboard. Larxene too propped herself up onto her elbows. "I don't know if I really want a heart." Larxene whispered absently. She traced a finger over one of Axel's scars.

"What? Why?"
Larxene blushed a deep crimson realizing she had spoken her thoughts out loud. "Um, no reason, just… nothing."

"Come on, Larxy." Axel teased, poking her in the ribs.

"Hey now. Watch it!" she zapped him lightly.

They wrestled around for a while, but Axel ended up pinning her to the bed. "Why don't you want a heart, Lightning?"
The grin slowly faded from her lips. "Because if you don't have one, it can't be broken."

Axel looked at her, speculatively. "Interesting. I guess I never saw you as the caring type. You always seem so sure of yourself, thriving in your independence."

Larxene licked her lips, about to bite back, but instead closed her mouth. She didn't know what to say. She felt a twinge inside; she didn't want to be alone, she didn't like independence, but the only way to assure everyone of her strength was to stand alone, against all odds. "Well, I'm just saying, that if you have a heart, it can go one of two ways. Personally, I'd rather not get emotionally attached to things. That way, you can't ever be hurt."
"But you'll never know the good things either! Love and caring for someone." Axel, not focusing, was slowly loosening his grip. Larxene watched Axel as he lost himself in thought. Suddenly, a wicked grin flashed across her face, and she ripped free of his grasp, pinning him to the bed seconds later.

"Hey Larxene." He said seductively, looking at her sexily. Smoke started rising from his shirt, and it curled black in flames.

"Stop!" Larxene frantically swatted at the flames.

"Relax."
"How can I relax? You're going to set the bed on fire!"
Axel flipped her so he was again crouched over her. He leaned close and whispered in her ear, "Fireproof sheets."
