Summary: Ever wondered how the Marauder's Map ended up in Filch's office?

Mischief Managed.
"Prongs! Would you get your bloody foot off mine?!" Sirius hissed under the Invisibility Cloak.
"Shut it, Padfoot, people are staring," Remus murmured without moving his lips as he walked down the corridor.
"Hey Moony, can you see our feet now?" James asked, straightening himself out a bit, tired of being hunched over to such a degree.
"Yes!"
"Bollocks, I hate hunching over!" he moaned, getting back to his original position.
It was a lovely June afternoon and the Seventh Year Marauders were up to no good, which was typical.
"Relax, gents, we're almost there," Sirius whispered as he looked at the Marauder's Map.
"Is Wormtail by you?"
"Yes, yes, right by my feet," Remus said quickly. Peter squeaked in his rat form.
"We're here," Sirius and James murmured as all four misfits stopped in front of the most dreaded place in Hogwarts, besides McGonagall's office and the dungeons.
Filch's office.
"Is the coast clear?" Remus asked, looking up and down the empty corridor.
"Yes," Sirius and James replied at the same time as they removed the cloak and dropped it on Peter. A second later, Peter changed out of his rat form, folding the cloak over his arm.
James looked at all the Marauders and nodded. Remus muttered a charm and soon they were in.
"Where's Filch?" Peter asked in a high voice as he shuddered, looking around the dreary room.
"He's somewhere on the ninth floor with Mrs. Norris." Sirius said, walking behind Flich's desk. "So…this is it," Sirius trailed off, looking at the drawer that was labeled "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous."
James joined Sirius' side and looked at the drawer somewhat apprehensively.
"Maybe we shouldn't," James said slowly.
"We should, James, it's time," Remus replied sadly, standing next to James.
"I guess, but maybe we should keep it and give it to our children…" Sirius trailed off.
"Who's to say we'll live long enough to have children?" Remus reminded softly. The four murmured in conformity. The war outside the walls of Hogwarts looked very bleak and many people were dying.
"This is for the best; we'll know that it'll be in capable hands since they'd have to break into Filch's drawer," Peter added. Sirius nodded in agreement.
"I suppose," Sirius bit his lip.
"So many memories with this," James gently took the map from Sirius's hands.
"Do you remember the first time we used it? We were going to the kitchens at eleven at night," Peter mused.
"Yeah. Why did we go that late anyway?" Remus asked.
"Wasn't it the day when one of Mrs. P's friends was murdered by Voldemort?" Sirius responded. Peter winced slightly at the mention of his name.
James nodded solemnly, "Yeah, my mum was so devastated. It was the first time the war really felt close to home, ya know?"
The Marauders didn't say anything for a moment. Remus took the map from James and looked at its contents.
"All those long hours…" he murmured, tracing "Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs."
"Is it mental to be close to sobbing about something like this?" Sirius whispered, a small smile playing on his lips. James shook his head, trying to smile.
"Nah, I don't think so mate."
"I kinda wish that we'll get caught by Filch and we won't have to do this," Sirius admitted.
"I think we all do," Remus added, giving the map to Peter.
"So…are we ready?" Peter shuddered a breath.
The Marauders looked at each other, each remembering all the exciting and fun times when they used the map. Every incident where the map saved them from detention (and expulsion). All the times being a Marauder…
They all took their wands and pointed to the map and whispered, "Mischief managed."
