I can't believe how quickly this series has gone! I loved last night's finale, but I'm guessing I wasn't the only one gutted by the cliffhanger ... so, here is how I imagine a series 4 playing out, picking up from where we left the gang last night.

"You thought I was Gary, didn't you?" Mike sighed sadly, "When you told me that you loved me - you thought you were telling Gary".
"No, Mike, she ..." Penny started to protest in a panic, but was stopped by Miranda.
"Mum, wait. Mike, I'm sorry - I honestly never meant to hurt you, I thought I'd moved on ..."
"It's alright, Quirky." Mike smiled, rising to his feet, "You're a lucky man, Gary. But a word of advice - don't let her go again. She's a rare diamond this one"
Miranda sighed ... was she really doing the right thing? Watching a man who said such beautiful things just walk away, and all for Gary? ... Gary ... Despite everything that had happened, she could never have married Mike. Stevie was right, it would only ever by Gary who held the keys to her heart, even if his fingers were fumbling whenever he tried to unlock it ... good word that, fumbling. Fumbling ...
"Miranda ... ?" Miranda jumped, her thoughts interrupted by Gary, still kneeling beside her.
"If you send this one packing as well, I shall never forgive you!" warned Penny.
"Miranda ..."
"Gary, wait ... "
"No" Gary interrupted, getting to his feet, "Miranda, I'm not letting you go again. Whatever it is between us, it terrifies me because I've never felt this way about anyone apart from you, and I know deep down that this could be far more than anything we've had before ... but it's going to take me some time to find my feet ... Miranda, there's been Rose and Jacinta, and yeah, plenty of other girls, but the only woman I've ever loved is you ... and I am the happiest I have ever been, but I have no idea what I'm doing - not a clue!"
"You let Mike go, for this?!"
"Mum, ssh! I ... "
"Miranda, I love you. If you want someone who's going to sweep you off your feet and live up to all those romantic gestures then go after Mike, because that's not me ... I can't. But I love you, the real you, the you that falls out of a train, gets chased by a gang of youths and lives with a flat of decorated fruit ... and I want to make this work, I really do ..."
"I love you too" Miranda smiled, silencing his ramblings with a kiss.
"So, is there going to be a wedding or not?" Tilly asked, unsure.
"No" replied Miranda
"Or at least not at the moment" Gary added. Miranda looked up in surprise, "Well, you never know ..."
Miranda smiled, whispering in his ear, "How terrified are you feeling now having said that?"
Gary laughed, "Not at all. These quivering hands are just a sign of ... lack of sleep - was drafty last night."
"I love you"
"I love you too"
