Marriage – once considered a right – had been broken down and considered a luxury of the ones who could afford it. Many would pay to accept the memory of someone else's wedding, someone else's happiness and pretend that it was theirs. Some people would cling onto to this fake sense of happiness with everything that they had while the world around them fell apart with none the wiser.
Errorist didn't have the luxury to focus on such happiness. They were too busy fighting for people who didn't care or didn't want to care. Fighting for the men and woman that were trapped in the prison with their memories erased and their lives literally stripped from them now lifeless shells being punished for things that they didn't even remember doing. Fighting for brothers and sisters Errorist who everyday risked their lives every day to help free people from a corrupt government sitting in their ivory towers looking down upon the lower people with grimace and disgust.
Weddings weren't a luxury many were allowed to have anymore. But they weren't going to allow this to stop their pursuit of happiness.
The sky overhead sparkled and glimmered with dancing stars as two lone figures stood together. The new moon's present provide the perfect amount of protection for the declaration of their love.
It was this temporary moment of happiness. This very aspect of being human that kept them going through the dark times that they knew they were going to face ahead. But for one second as she looked into his eyes – seeing the love and devotion that he held for her and he looked into hers – seeing the care and promise of tomorrow, they knew no matter what times they would find ahead they would do whatever they could to ensure that when the fighting ended and dust settled that they would still have one another.
So in the endless darkness the young man and young woman declared their love, their promise, and sealed their vow with a kiss.
So I honestly don't know where this came from. I was rereading "Memoirs of a Spy" (which is an amazing Nilian/human!Edge story, if you hadn't read it please read it but it's not finish and they haven't update in like a year) and kept coming back to the idea of what Nilian's and Edge's wedding would be like. I'd understand that two criminals wouldn't be able to have anything like a normal wedding and wouldn't be able to celebrate their union like a normal couple which got me to thinking of what a wedding would be like for the less fortunate in that world and this was the result. It's just a quick glimpse into their world but I really like it. Please review and tell me what you think. Thanks!
