This is the sequal to The Biotic Of Mindoir. It my be possible to read this story without reading the other, but some parts will be very confusing. Just know that Kyler Shepard is a very scarred individual.

Sorry it has taken so long to finally get this story out, but at least it is out now. This is more of a teaser/preview, but tell me what you think. I got some reviews asking for his time in boot camp, but I hope a summary of the events will suffice.

Just a quick note, I am not sure exactly how our military runs, let alone a future military, so all of this is just an educated guess. As for the N's, Shepard eventually becomes an N7, but I've thought of it like N1-N3 would be based on training during bootcamp, while N4-N7 would be acquired through amazing feats on the field, though not necessarily a promotion. Again, this is a guess, and despite my best efforts, research on Alliance training has been fruitless. As a reference to the dates, Torfan takes place in 2178, and in my story, Mindoir was attacked in 2176 (not quite canon).

Overview:

Name: Shepard, Kyler

Date of Birth: April 11 2158

Age: 20

Enlisted: April 11 2176 at age 18

Rank: N5 Staff Sergeant

Class: Adept (Implant- data unavailable)

Weapon Spec: Pistols, Shotguns

Notable Features:

Shepard's implants (Data Classified. Level 5 Clearance Required.) , resulting in an impressive amount of control over his biotics. Due to the unique nature of his implant, most dampeners that attack the amplifier are rendered useless, allowing Shepard to continue using biotics, even while under the effects of a dampening field.

Shepard has been tested positively for a photographic memory.

Due to his photographic memory, Shepard is capable of understanding several alien languages such as High Thessian, Batarian, and Turian without the assistance of a translator.

Instructor Comments:

GySgt. Ellison (N1 Trainer) August 2176:

Cpl[Corporal] Shepard is an extremely talented soldier in all areas of combat, though his apathy towards the lives of fellow soldiers is disconcerting. Other than the lack of comradeship, Shepard shows latent on-the-field leadership skills, and is well educated in military tactics. I recommend advancing Shepard to N2 training.

MGySgt. Thompson (N2 Trainer) December 2176:

Sgt [Sergeant] Shepard has shown considerable biotic strength, and a dedication to firearms that is absent in most Adepts. Shepard was promoted to squad leader soon after joining N2 recruits. Despite a near total apathy towards his soldiers, casualties are rare, though Shepard is unaffected by the deaths of soldiers under his command, and has shown a tendency to compromise the safety of one soldier to complete the mission. Though sometimes amoral, he never fails to see most of his unit succeed with minimal casualties. Recommend advancement to N3 training.

MGySgt. Remison (N3 Trainer) March 2177:

SSgt [Staff Sergeant] Shepard is capable of fighting effectively in nearly any situation, and is capable of easily issuing orders while continuing to fight effectively. Shepard has graduated as squad leader of 1stSgt Patterson's unit, and top of his class in biotic and close combat training.

June 17 2177: Promoted to N4 rank by 1stSgt Patterson

January 4 2178: Promoted to N5 rank by 1stSgt Patterson

January 9 2178: transferred to Maj [Major] Kyle's unit approved

March 28 2178: promoted to squad leader by Maj Kyle

Psychological Evaluation March 28 2178:

SSgt Shepard shows extreme skill and control over his biotics, but may be mentally unstable. He is prone to be overly violent in combat situations, but virtually unresponsive in many other situations. Dr. Shardona believes his condition may be due to lasting symptoms of PTSD from the Mindoir raid. Due to his lack of emotional responses, Shepard exhibits no regard for the lives of his fellow soldiers other than their usefulness to him, and to the Alliance. Despite the Batarian attack on Mindoir, Shepard has shown no bias against any alien species.

The Illusive Man breathed out a lungful of smoke that would have been toxic without his genetically altered lungs. He watched absently as the smoke rose in the empty room while the star behind him bathed everything in shades of red and blue.

He gave the datapad on Shepard one last cursory glance before he through it aside into the pile of similar datapads, all logging the progress of humanities strongest biotic.

If he was anyone else, The Illusive Man would be called a Shepard fanatic, but to him, Shepard wasn't a person. He was an investment that had cost Cerberus countless hours of research, and an incredible amount of credits. But if the Shadow Broker was correct, and the Reapers were coming, it would be credits well spent.

The dark room was bathed in orange light as The Illusive Man activated the holoscreen in front of him, showing the live stream as newly promoted XO SSgt Shepard boarded his new ship, the SSV Waterloo.

"Operative Henderson, see to it that the Lazarus station is prepped and ready if needed."

The communication buoy crackled momentarily before Henderson's voice responded. "Yes sir!"

The Illusive Man leaned back in his chair as the SSV Waterloo departed from its docking cradle on the vid screen. An incredible investment indeed.
