Sympathy Street:
Chapter 1~ S: is for Samuel.
Aunt Erica,
Just wanted to let you know I'm here. Well here as in, where I am... just not here as in where you sent me...
Lots of Love. Sammy x
It's just right- not too specific, not too detailed; perfect! Thought Samuel. He slipped the plain postcard into a new envelope and then back into his backpack.
He let his mind wonder for a moment, letting it slip into 'worry mode'. Worrying about the consequences of what he was doing- or what he wasn't doing to be precise. He let it take over his whole body- causing his mug of tea to shatter on the cold lino floor of 'Frankie's Cafe'. He let his newspaper fall and land messily next to the broken mug and puddle of bitter tea.
"Here." A mop and dustpan was thrust in Sam's direction with a dirty look from the owner of 'Frankie's'.
Sam obliged and cleared up the disarray on the floor. He tipped 'dolly' (his so called waitress-please note it was a self service buffet and tea pot.) and then left 'Frankie's Cafe' to embark on what was sure to be one big escapade.
The busy surroundings of Fallen Street Station didn't faze Sam. He walked confidently pass policemen and passed shifty looking men as if they were just fairies on top of Christmas trees.
He exited onto the Riverside bypass and just kept walking. Sam didn't know where he was going or what in fact he was doing- the only thing he knew for sure was that he was going to keep running until it all just went away...
