A/N: This is that one-shot I promised you all. This is something I came up with a few weeks ago, but never actually sat down and did it. It's pretty simple really, but I'm posting it anyway. You read the summary, so no further explanation is needed. P.S: I do not own Regular Show.
"...Trust your gut." Mordecai said, looking up at the crowd. "It was your gut that told you wanted to spend the rest of your life with this woman. And it's the same gut that still fills with butterflies when you make her smile. The Sorenstines have big guts for a reason son. That ain't fat in there. It's wisdom. Good luck on your journey Muscle Son. Your dad, Muscle Dad."
Muscle Man had tears streaming down his face after Mordecai had finished reading off the letter. But that letter had actually made Mordecai think. What was his gut saying?
"Thanks dad. Pops, lets do this," Muscle Man said confidently. But Mordecai had realized something.
"Do you, Muscle-" Mordecai had cut off Pops by going for the microphone again.
"Muscle Dad is right. Finding the right person is hard. You know, for a while, I've been telling myself that there's no such thing as soul mates. But now I'm not so sure. Look at Muscle Man and Starla. It's like they were designed for each other. Where's my soul mate? Are they in this room?" As soon as the words left his mouth, his eyes somehow instantly found Margaret. As much as his mind was telling him to look toward CJ, his gut was telling him to look toward Margaret. He couldn't deny this any longer.
"I know who that person is. It's what my gut is telling me. It's a person I would give anything up to see her smile. It's a person I've known for a long time. It's someone who I've tried the hardest to win the love of. CJ, I'm sorry, but it's not you. It's Margaret," Mordecai concluded.
CJ looked upset at his words, but even then, Mordecai knew he had to approach her. Margaret looked straight out dumbfounded and slightly embarrassed.
"Mordecai, don't. You already said what you had to say, so stop," CJ said in a hurt tone.
"I'm sorry, but I can't help what I felt for her then and now. If I didn't say anything, things would be worse than they are now," Mordecai told her in a remorseful tone. CJ's face turned into one of sad resignation.
"Here," she said, placing the necklace/charm bracelet that he gave her. Mordecai stared at it for a few seconds before his face went up to meet CJ's. Now tears began to run down her face before she walked out of the ballroom. Mordecai turned to Margaret, but she had disappeared out of thin air. Mordecai sighed. Love sucks.
"Yo Mordo! If you're finished hi-jacking my wedding, is it ok if we get married now?" Muscle Man told Mordecai impatiently.
"The sooner we finish this, the sooner we can start up these fires," Starla told Mordecai.
"Yeah," Mordecai said, rushing out of the ballroom. Mordecai looked around for some sign that Margaret was here. Her car was nowhere in sight, which means she left. Mordecai sighed. He knew he would have to talk to her about this soon. Mordecai decided to head back to the house and call it a night.
A/N: Short and simple, but I like it. Hope you all liked it. This is just a spin on what could've happened in that episode.
