Our Table

"Ugh I can't finish this chapter." Ally Dawson complains to her best friend Trish.

"So take a break." Trish replies in a casual manner.

"That's your solution for everything." She says while laughing.

Ally shuts her computer to take a break from writing her most recent novel. Ally and Trish sit at their normal table in the small cafe in New York. They both decided to move there for college. Ally wanted a decent cup of coffee one day and stumbled on this cute rustic cafe on the outskirts of town.

The rain was pouring down outside. Trish laughed at the strangers expressions of hate when they walked in the warm building. All of the random strangers thankful for a hide away from the rain. Ally on the other hand felt bad for them. Each one dressed for work, their clothes soaked. The women's once perfect make-up smeared from the constant effort of wiping the rain drops off their faces.

"Hey Trish i'm gonna go get more coffee." She says before standing and walking up to the crowded counter.

Trish soon stands and walks to the ladies room. Leaving their normal table unattended. When Ally gets back the her spot it is taken by a mysterious blonde boy. The rain glistens off his hair. His brown puppy dog eyes seem upset. His red checkered shirt is open and soaked. Revealing and equally drenched white t-shirt underneath. The shirt clings to his stomach, showing his abs. Before she has time to marvel at his toned stomach she is standing on a table.

"Excuse me what the fuck do you think your doing!" Ally exclaims at the blonde boy in her seat.

"Uh, it's the only open table" He mumbles while his eyes never leave the table.

"Well, that's my seat. I sit there every morning so get the fuck out of it!" She shouts at him. This time instead of mumbling a reply he too stand up on a table.

"What gives you the right to stand on a table and speak to me like this?" He asks as his voice rises in anger. By this time Trish has returned and is getting up on the table with Ally.

"MARK!" Trish screams. The people watching the scene unfold cringe at the volume of her voice. Soon a man appears from the back of the cafe.

"What's wrong girls?" He asks as he moves a piece of his gray hair out of his face.

"This man decided to sit at our table and won't move." Ally says in an angry tone.

Mark looks from the girls to the blonde boy with the puppy dog eyes. He then adjusts the apron around his waist thinking it over.

"Well that is Ally and Trish's table, so can you please move or I will need you to leave the cafe." Mark tells him.

"But, but why can they tell me what to do?" He asks.

"Sorry, son but these girls come here everyday, they run this place. Your the first brave soul to confront them. Now please move or Trish will." Mark says as he points to the Latino girl.

"Fine" the blonde says as he gets up.

"Oh and by the way i'm Austin, you seem nice. Well nice enough, I don't meet many people like you." Austin says as he extends his hand towards Ally. She hesitantly takes it.

"Ok... I'm Ally" She says while playing with the tips of her hair.

"You seem nervous has no one ever tried to be friends with you after you cussed at the to get out of your seat." He says laughing softly. This causes Ally to blush slightly.

"Actually that did happen once. Then he turned into a panda and tried to beat me to death with a spoon. When he failed he rode away on his magical tiger." She replies in a sarcastic tone.

"Ok so this is a first for you too." He says with a bright smile.

"Do you just go around flashing your smile at any girl, cause that is so annoying." Ally says with a sigh.

"Only the pretty ones." He says grinning.

"Oh god Trish can you just kill me right now please?" Ally begs.

"Why?" She asks, being oblivious to what happened in the last five minutes.

"Blondie that was siting at our table is hitting on me." she says in an exasperated tone.

"How dare you" Trish practically growls. This causes Austin to back up towards the door.

"That's right be afraid run away, run away now." Trish says in a scary voice.

"I think i'm gonna go now, here is my number call me when ever you want." He says with one last heart melting smile. He then rushes back out into the bust New York streets. The rain soaking his once dry hair. He disappears around a corner.

As he leaves Ally feels a weird tug at her chest. It is almost as if she misses him. Almost as quickly the feeling appears it is gone. Soon Ally and Trish are back at their normal table. Trish reading a magazine and Ally writing her novel. Things seem to have gone back to normal. For now at least...
