Janet stood their looking out at the New York City skyline she was in normal street clothes a simple black skirt and dark blue loose fitting top. She had not gotten back into her costume since that day 3 months ago. The day that broke her will and broke her life she lost everything that day. Everything she thought was good that she had built with her own hands without any help from the rest of the world. She shook her head fighting back the tears as the wind whipped across her face a wind she realized was always there. Just like the sun this city the dam world it was all constant all there it was the worse feeling in the world for her. She hated it, hated how the world kept going even in the face of her destruction. The losses of her team, her friends and her trust in the world.
She lost her company for a month as shield went through everything every file, every person; every dollar spent this drove off a large group of her people. Her company almost went under in this short period only to be rescued in the last minute by the sale of twelve company secrets. Yeah she lost for exclusive rights to some of her best money makers but it kept them a float as they restructured.
She took a deep breath closing her eyes she took a step forward falling instantly towards the ground she was standing on top of the one world trade center. She plummet head first she opened her arms and began to spiral as she fell. She had not changed size since the day she found herself on her knees of the royal's throne room. She had to end this pain had to end this suffering in her heart and mind. She had to end this she had to make it stop she needed to be free from this world.
Janet looked to her reflection in the mirrored glass of the building and saw it speak to her, "Come on Janet you need to break this feeling. You need to wake up!" Janet ignored her reflection but it spoke louder. "They need you Janet! Not just your company, your friends and the ones you love, this world needs you!"
Janet stopped spinning facing her reflection, "I can't, I can't go on nothing is how it should be!"
The reflection yelled back, "I know you think I don't feel how you do! If you give up what is Aoife going to do you are all she has right now."
"She has her gym, she has the other heroes and inhumans if she needs I was just a crutch to get her going she can go on without me now."
"What of the people whose lives you saved," Her reflection changed to a crowd of a billion people all looking at her, "You are the hope in their lives. You are the light they follow when everything is black. You inspired them all to lead better lives to keep fighting no matter what." The reflection changed to the heroes of earth, "What about them you are an example of what they should be. A heroin who never backs down from a fight one who stands up again and again after getting beaten down. You push through and lead them with your heart and knowledge."
"There is other heroes who can do that they do not need me anymore. This is the best thing for me and the world I won't bring pain to them anymore."
"Yes you will this will kill them break them apart. Your death will send ripples through the world we cannot even see. Every life you touched will shatter," As the reflection spoke the windows around Janet broke. "I know you think there is no hope no reason for you to be here anymore but you can't let it end this way. You have to fight Janet!"
"I have been!" She began to cry, "For most of life I have fought, when I thought I wasn't when I thought I was happy I was fighting."
The reflection flashed to Hank Pym then to Tony Stark then to Alex Summers then back to her, "Yes your life was filled with strife and anger but you pulled through and became better for it! You changed this world made it better stronger. You helped forge it into what it is."
"I helped create a world of pain not just for me but for everybody who I touched. They are shattered, crushed destroyed no longer human."
"Then fix them! Fix this world, fix who you are, fix them make the world the way it should be. Drag them to their feet and make them stand beside you no matter what. Show the world your strength the strength of a wasp pushed to far!"
Janet closed her eyes, "I can't!"
"Yes you can! You have fixed lives before, you have healed them brought them to your light now be a beacon for yourself! Do not die here Janet! Show the world a broken Wasp!"
Janet brushed away her tears she was now within floors of the ground a crowd slowly forming on the ground. She suddenly began to shrink inside her clothes then a second later she exploded out from inside them naked. She took off over the crowd having them watch the clothes fall gently from the sky as they held up their phones trying to catch the scene on camera.
Janet flew through the air for the first time since she got her powers she felt free. She spun in the air still fighting her tears fighting herself and the urge to just fall again. She did a loop picking up speed on the way down as she flew through the streets of New York. She passed the broken baxter building, avengers mansion, and avengers tower. She passed all the buildings she had helped save releasing how much the city had changed from when she was younger. She was no longer looking at it with the eyes of an optimist she was seeing it how it truly was. A city broken and rebuilt over and over the new and the old weaved as one changing with the times and the wars. She saw the old scars and the new evils that always emerged. She turned to her side as she passed and alley and fired five stingers into it a man dropping to the ground a woman looking confused then kicking the man and running off.
Janet smiled a bit then saw her reflection again flying with her and it spoke, "No matter what you are a hero and cannot stop helping remember that my broken was." The reflection flashed from costume to costume she wore over the years, "now be the hero you are meant to be and fight on. Who you were and who you will be is always there."
Janet nodded, "I will live on as the broken wasp."
