Chapter 1
The Plymouth sped through LA, Wesley Wyndam-Price gripping the steering wheel as he glanced in the rear-view mirror, and saw a sleeping baby suspended in midair. He looked over his shoulder as the reached traffic lights, and noticed how Angel wasn't taking any chances when it came to Connor's safety. He had refused to drive, not wanting anyone else to hold his precious son. He was now wearing a seatbelt, just in case, and gazing down in quiet awe at his son lying securely in his arms.
Wesley smiled at the peace and happiness radiating from the souled vampire, and suddenly a horrible thought struck him. As Angel's gaze locked with his, Wes realised someone sitting beside him was talking to him.
"Wes!" Cordelia Chase exclaimed, and he turned to see her gesturing to the now green traffic lights.
"Oh. Sorry," he mumbled, throwing the gear into drive. Soon they pulled up outside the Hyperion Hotel, office of Angel Investigations. Angel was instantly struck with a peculiar feeling, but shook it off, chalking it up to not having eaten in a few days. As the gang walked up the steps before him, Angel gazed down at the baby in his arms.
"Well, Connor," he whispered, climbing the steps, "welcome to your new... home," he finished slowly, as he saw the blonde rise from the sofa in the hotel lobby.
"Hello, Angel," Buffy Summers greeted, her arms crossed and a non-too-pleasant expression on her face.
