Hello, I'm Nate, I'm going to tell you the story of something that changed my life forever. I hope you enjoy it.
It was Friday morning, I woke up to my alarm and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. As I groggily shuffled over to my dresser I could hear my mom downstairs as she shouted "WHAT", but she didn't sound mad, she sounded rather happy. I decided to question her about it when I made my way down there.
As I finished getting dressed I grabbed my backpack from the corner of my room and headed to the bathroom. I did my normal morning routine of using the bathroom, washing my hands and face, brushing my teeth, and ruffling my hair because I prefer a messy look. I started marching down the stairs when I heard sobbing.
I rushed the rest of the way down the stairs to find my mom with her face in her hands as her tears were streaming down her arms. "Mom, what's wrong?" I asked her. "Nothing is wrong, I am just so happy, I will tell you about it when you get home" she responded. I gave her a quick hug and left through the front door.
I live not far from the school and decided to walk today rather than ride my bike. The ride is mostly uphill so I don't save much time on my bike. As I arrived I pulled on my hood and put my hands in my pockets, I was a loner and my appearance would keep other students away from me either way.
The school day was normal, I sat in my usual seat in the back of each of my classes. I was lucky enough to not have any teacher to assign seats. I kept quiet and remained pretty much unnoticed aside from attendance. When school was over I headed home.
I picked up the pace when I remembered that my mom would be telling me what she was happy about when I got home. I walked up to my house and put my key in the lock, I had one of those families that keeps the door locked, and I twisted the knob. As the door opened I saw my mom with her arm around a boy as tall as her with long white hair. He was not wearing a shirt but had tattered jeans on.
"Your brother is finally home" she said with tears in her eyes. I just stared at her, "Mom, what the fu--"
And that concludes the prologue, I hope you liked it.
