I pick up my pen to write,
But I don't know what to say.
Dreams come in the night,
But fade in the dawn of day.
Don't say that I
Will never come back.
See, I didn't really die;
My wheels just came off the track.

I didn't want to flee,
And I never wished to run.
I didn't want to see
The barrel of a gun -
Your eyes, so pained,
So filled with confusion.
Your eyes, they strained
To see me, an illusion.
You fell right through
With a loud, hard SMACK!
You ran, and then you
Fell through my back.
You see, the dream was fading,
'Twas all going away.
The close of night was jading
The opening of day.
To see your
Deep, deep sadness
Cut me in my core,
And drove me to madness.
But what could I do?
You determined to die.
How could I ask of you
To tell everyone a lie?

But isn't it strange?
The tables have turned;
Now everything's changed,
Now it's all churned.
You were supposed to die,
And I could never come.
But it seems that I
Returned to where I'm from.
I didn't want to say goodbye;
I wanted to remain.
But my destiny was to die,
That was all I could attain.
Understand what I mean,
Please know what I felt.
I wanted to scream!
And my courage, it melt.
I am but a dream,
Though you think me more.
The pyreflies stream;
I should have said so before.

Blame me for it all,
Give either love or hate.
In the end, I must fall
In one line, so straight,
Away from your heart,
Away from your voice.
I must depart,
But it is not my choice!
Don't give up hope,
Never lay it down.
I don't want you to mope,
Put a smile in place of your frown!
Just whistle, and I'll hear
Your cry of pain;
I've always been near,
And I'll come to you again.
I'll come back into your sight,
And this is what I'll say:
"Dreams that fade in the night
Become real in the dawn of day."

Author's Note: This poem is written by Tidus from the Farplane. You might say he got together with Auron to write poems. He's telling Yuna not to worry, that he'll come back even though he's a dream. Not that she'll ever see this poem...
