Disclaimer: I do not claim to own Primeval. I just claim to love the show and wish I owned it because I'd have bunches of money and the show never would be cancelled and... No copyright intended.
A/N: AU! Very short! How I always wished this situation went down.
Taking place in 3.9, right after Abby enters Lester's flat to bring her special delivery.(AKA: Rex) Enjoy!
Connor and Abby awed over Sid, Nancy, and Rex reuniting but the topic was now being forced away from them. They couldn't just stand there and awe all day. Connor had been dreading this. He knew just what she'd say.
They looked up to face each other and all Connor wanted was to speak first, so he could tell her just how much he loved her, tell her how much he wanted to kiss her back, but his oh-so-brilliant mouth of his couldn't make words. She got the first words out. She always did.
"I wanted to, umm…" Abby trailed off. Okay, so that wasn't so painful, was it? "I just don't want things to be weird between us."
Connor stared at her, her returning the stare but looking a whole lot more panicked. What did that mean? 'Weird?' Was that her ending this? Was there even a 'this'?
For the first time in … ever, Connor realized just because his mouth couldn't produce words it didn't mean he couldn't use it at all. With Abby's blue eyes looking up at him, waiting for him to answer, he almost spit out a ramble about 'nothing being weird here' and he'd probably make it engrossingly weird, where Abby would be staring at him terrified. But instead he did something else entirely, something impulsive and nothing like him.
Abby was shocked to find Connor quickly moving around the counter between them and suddenly crushing his lips to hers. He wrapped his arms around her waist and Abby's shoulders relaxed once she realized fully what had happened. Connor was kissing her. She entangled her arms around his neck, increasing the kiss in an instant, and enjoying every second of it. Connor happened to be an excellent kisser – but it wasn't just that. It was Connor. She'd wanted to kiss him again since the race tracks.
Connor pulled away so he could breathe and he just grinned at her. She loved his smile.
"Sorry, didn't make things weird between us, did I?"
Abby grinned back at him, playfully slapping his arm. "I didn't know what else to say. If you weren't going to tell me your feelings were mutual, then you were going to awkwardly cower around me like were already doing."
Connor furrowed his brows. "You were expecting me to just tell you I felt the same, when you didn't even tell me how you felt? Bit unfair, init?"
Abby started to argue, but then frowned. "I… Guess I assumed kissing you was enough. Suppose I over looked the fact that you're an idiot half the time."
Connor tightened his lips and nodded. "Thanks for that."
"Course."
"Abs?"
Still enveloped in his arms she just smiled at him. "Hm?"
Connor pecked her lips once and then said, "I love you, too."
She raised a brow, smirking at him. "I love you, Conn."
And with his response already spoken, Connor leaned back in to kiss her. And Abby quickly obliged.
