Okay I decided to sit down and finish writing this after so long so here is my little ficlet. It wasn't originally a LancexIlana story but oh well! Oh and thank you for those who reviewed my last Sym-Bionic story (You know who you are)! I promise I will write another chapter for it soon once I'm finished with my exams and projects. Oh yeah virtual tacos (that's right I give tacos) for anyone who recognizes the song lyrics I said in the description. ^-^
Disclaimer: I own nothing but this laptop to type these One Shots on lol.
My Escape
The music really spoke to Lance.
It told stories about pain, broken hearts, and broken souls, just like him.
The fans entertained him just as much with their enjoyment of the noise. Each time a drumbeat hit they shoved each other. With every lyric sung they shouted along to the words.
It was something of a new experience for him.
The only thing he understood was battle techniques and strategies. How to win and conquer,
failure not an option for that equal death.
To serve and protect was his one and only life mission.
After his fathers "death" it became abundantly clear that childhood was over and the life of a soldier was to begin. Even at 16 everything he did was for the princess of his home world.
There was no one to relate to and no one who would understand. Though this song, this music all together was as if it was speaking to him directly. Telling him everything he already knew and what to do also.
It was beautiful, at least to him it was. This extraordinary moment he knew he would always remember. For a soldier should never forget what one cherishes, whether that be a wondrous sound or an unforgettable person.
Lance stole a glance at Ilana who was awkwardly standing there trying not to get pushed by the overwhelming mob of people. It was such a huge clash with her cheeriness and bright clothing against the loud dark room they were in. She stuck out like a sore thumb, which at least made it easy for Lance to spot her. She was in a way similar to the music playing.
The contrast was obvious but there was something about the way she would distract him from his job of guarding. Just like the beating sound that everyone was dancing to it also rid his mind of all forms of military warfare.
The way she would drag him along trying to look like a "normal" teenager or how she would begrudgingly ask for help on her homework.
Sure it wasn't exactly the same but it made sense to him. This music was an escape from all the stress of his life
and so was she.
