Kat new it was going to be a bad day. The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was the dark grey of storm clouds. She turned over onto her side. She cast a glance to her alarm clock. It was already 8:15! She jumped out of bed and rush around trying to get changed while brushing her teeth and combing her hair. Kat rushed downstairs, and grabbed a piece of toast. In the background she could hear her parent screaming at each other. Forgetting about her jacket, she rushed outside, just in time to see the bus turn the corner.

'Can this day get any worse?' she thought. Then it started to rain, no, pour. She reached the school sopping wet and 10 minutes late. But it just got better. Today was class elections. And the speech she had spent months on decided to disappear. She wished she could join it. After spending almost an hour looking for it, she was forced to drop out of the competition. Her best friend won it instead. Later, when she was cleaning out her desk, she spotted something in her friend's desk. It was her speech. In the desk where she said she looked. She snapped. It was just all too much for her to handle.

She sat outside in the rain, crying. She wished she could disappear. She wished she could leave this life and never come back.

Kat was sitting at the back of the school, where nobody ever went unless they had to, alone in her sorrows. She felt so utterly hopeless, so utterly alone. The rain dripped down her hair and trickled down her cheeks, mixing with her tears.

Suddenly, something touched her wrist. She wiped her eyes on her sleeve and looked down. It looked like a long black snake.

She recoiled a bit, her tears forgotten in her fear. It darted towards her in a flash and wrapped itself around her arm. Startled, she drew back, trying to pull away, but it just tightened. She noticed another near her other wrist. She jumped up so it couldn't reach; but instead it wrapped around her ankle.

Soon more had come and were encircling her. They cornered her, fidgeting like a pack of hyenas waiting for the kill. She backed up against a wall, scared. They struck one at a time, trying to get her free leg and arm. It was almost as if they were purposefully missing, like they actually enjoyed her fear.

"Stop playing with her." She jerked her head up. There were people there. They were dressed in large black cloaks with red clouds. As she looked closer she realized that the black things were coming from one of them. She heard someone speak again.

"C'mon, hurry the hell up. I want to get fuck out of here." It was the same voice as before.

"Fine." Kat felt the black things grab her remaining limbs. They started dragging her towards them. Suddenly her panic was gone. She was no longer afraid. She looked at the men. She smiled. She had gotten her wish.

She felt a blow to the back of her head. She sank peacefully into unconsciousness. They picked up the girl and disappeared into the rain.

Hidan looked down at the unconscious girl in his arms, scowling.

"Why the fuck is she smiling?" Even unconscious, she had a smile on her face.

"How should I know? This entire world is messed up."

They walked on in silence, until they came to the end of an alleyway, where they made some hand seals and muttered a few incoherent words. The wall seemed to shift in front of them and form a tunnel. They stepped in, and the hole behind them closed. Kat shifted in Hidan's arms and snuggled closer to him. He looked at her. Her smile was even bigger than before. He glared.

Goddamn it, why was it always him?
