Merlin's secret skill
His eyes aimed at the target. With on swift movement the arrow shot through from the bow and hit the middle of the target. Arthur grinned triumphantly.
"Well done sire" said Merlin without once looking up from the silver shield he was polishing.
"How do you know when you didn't even see!" retorted Arthur back.
"I just know," grinned Merlin, finally looking up from the suit of armour. "But next time I would count the wind speed in the aim because it was very close to missing the target and-"
"How do you know all this?" interrupted Arthur.
"My childhood was sometimes very bland so I would play with the bow and arrow set my father made me." Suddenly Merlin sighed sadly, "It's the only memory I have of him.
Arthur suddenly dropped his bow and arrow in front of Merlin with a big crash.
"Show me then," requested Arthur. Merlin groaned. He didn't want to do it. It was his secret skill. Which was reminded him of a sad memory.
"Come on," urged Arthur. Merlin gave up trying and stood up and grabbed the bow and one single sleek arrow. The bow was carved gracefully and the wood was smooth as silk but it was also quite heavy. Two of Merlin's fingers curled around the arrow and pushed the thick string back. He positioned it carefully so it would be a direct hit. In one fluid moment he let the arrow go as it shot through the air like a dagger and it hit directly in the middle. Merlin sighed.
"Impressive Merlin," replied Arthur, shocked by the sight he just witnessed, "Even better than me." Merlin smiled as he returned the bow back to Arthur. He then sat beside Arthur. A long silence droned on between the two boys.
"What was your father like?" asked Arthur breaking the silence. Merlin shut his eyes and shuddered at the mention of his father.
"I don't know," he replied sadly as a single glistening tear slowly began to well up on the edge of his eyes. Arthur sensed the sadness of his manservant. Slowly he wound his arm around Merlin's shoulder in a reassuring hug. He leaned his head on his shoulder and whispered into his ear "Sorry." Arthur lowered his head down and let his lips lightly rest against Merlin's shoulder. They stayed like this for a while as the sun began to set.

A.N: I know Merlin was portrayed as a klutz, but I want him to be at least good at something knighty. Please comment!
