Notes: This is my baby! First that I've finished, ever. Very fitting that it's short and dark and about these two. On that note..I don't own Seifer Almasy or Quistis Trepe. Thanks!

I. Masks

She tries not to waver as they read his sentence; what good will it do to cry when they announce Seifer Almasy's execution?

II. Isolation

He didn't want to see anyone anyway, especially her; he might actually be afraid of dying if he remembered what he was missing.

III. Saying goodbye

She tries to look everywhere—the bars, the floor, her trembling fingers—anywhere but his eyes. It's easier to keep the emotions in that way. Her tears were already so fragile—any little thing could--

"Quistis—"

--set off the reality of losing him.

IV. Pride

He scans the crowd, relieved when he doesn't see her face; he didn't want her to see his final bow, her last memory of him to be his greatest fall.

V. Justice

She stands at his grave, wondering if it's fair at all that he was the criminal and yet she's the one that's suffering.
