"I love you still," Grantaire breathed as he thought of Eponine, the love of his life.

"I love you still," Enjolras thought standing on top of the barricade. Eponine was an angel to him.

Grantaire love her with all his heart. He would choose her over anything in the world. The drinks don't numb the pain of seeing her and not being able to hold her, kiss her, or just tell her how he feels.

Enjolras fought for her. He loved her with a fire red as the flag he waves for her. She was his everything. If she were to die in the battles to come, he would die inside. He may move on physically, but he'd spend the rest of his life at the barricade in his mind, trying to save her. But she doesn't even know how he feels.

"Marius is so lucky but he doesn't even know," Grantaire said louder. No one paid attention to him, though. In their minds he was only a drunk. They would never know that he drinks because it dulls the pain. If only he had told her his feelings. He should have told her. He would love her ten times more than any man ever could love her.

If Enjolras had her, he would never let her go. He never stopped loving her from the moment he saw her beautiful face on the streets. If only he had told her. Then he wouldn't be cursing at himself in his mind again.

Grantaire's heart was beating for her.

Enjolras's heart was full of love for her.

Grantaire could love her more than anyone in the world.

Enjolras wanted her. No. He needed her. He would love her to the end of the world and back.

Grantaire could only stand at the base of the barricade and daydream of her in his mind.

Enjolras waited for the army. The bullets were coming. He didn't care if he died. Of course, he wanted to live and tell Eponine how he really feels. Living would only be sweet with Eponine.

Grantaire's life would be nothing to him if he had to live another second without her. If only he could see her one last time.

Enjolras prayed to see her one last time before they died.

Anyone of the boys could die at the barricade at any moment. Little did Grantaire and Enjolras know that Eponine was there. But, she was not there for them. She was there for Marius. Little did they know that they would see Eponine's perfect face alive and breathing for the last time that night at the lowly barricade. She would disappear into the memories of the past, without ever knowing the two men's feelings. She would die for Marius, not them.
