Only Twice Before

Author's Note: This is my present for Always Hopeful/mmadlyinlove from the Secret Santa Exchange over at the ADMM board. Happy Christmas!

I've only ever approached this level of happiness twice before - first, when Albus proposed; and second, when we were married. But this time, my joy eclipses every other emotion - and I know that Albus will feel the same. Everything is perfect - Grindelwald has been defeated, the new Minister of Magic is actually competent, and not owling Albus every hour, it's Christmas Eve, and, most of all, in seven months we're going to have a baby - our first child! I went to Poppy for a check-up this afternoon, and she told me that it wasn't actually the flu, but PREGNANCY! I'm carrying a baby boy. I can't wait to tell Albus - this will be the best Christmas gift he'll ever receive! Life can't get any better - not even Sybill Trelawney could sour my mood today!

Tonight was the most magical Christmas Eve I've ever had - yes, in all of my ninety-eight years, I've never had a better Christmas Eve. Not only have Minerva and I been married for six wonderful months, but Grindelwald is no longer a threat and I have the chance to relax at home with my lovely wife. This year, I received the best Christmas present I could hope for - by this time next year, Minerva and I will have a son! We'll be parents! I've always wanted children, but until Minerva and I married, I never thought that this dream would become a reality. And I thought that we'd have to try for years to conceive. This news was the most perfect gift the Dumbledores could have received this Christmas - everything is finally perfect. Not even an attempt by Aberforth's goats to eat the Christmas tree will spoil this wonderful day!

THE END
