Her Ray of Sunshine

...

She had been in this hell-hole for 1095 days.

It was an ornate hall, a black one. Flickering Chandeliers hung rickety on the ceiling. On the sides were old, cracked windows, the glass grimy with dirt and dust.

She had scratched a line on the wall every midnight, and there were 1095 lines all together.

She sure could count fast. She hadn't been called a high-class angel for nothing.

Humans had locked her in the empty room with their machines.

Worse, they only gave her people to torture once a month. So that was 36 humans slaughtered.

Oh well. She couldn't care less. It was her own nature……after THAT happened.

....

The humans they gave her were specially chosen from their ever-breeding race.

That's why she took notice when a ray of light walked in.

He had white wings, exactly the opposite of the raven black ones she had.

White…...it reminded her of the days when she herself was an angel, carefree, and smiling in the heavens.

It was all over now……she was all stained with the wrongdoings of the world.

And he was an angel, a ray of light. She, a disgraced fallen angel.

The rain drummed on the ceiling.

...

At least an hour had already gone, and he was still standing in the middle of the room.

She knew there was something different about him. He didn't shrink away from her or hide at the corner of the now darkened room.

He was unlike all the others.

She studied him. A perfectly normal angel, with rather...... childlike features: blond hair and sky blue eyes. A symbol of his innocence.

Suddenly he raised his head, as if he knew she was thinking about him.

Their eyes connected. Blue clashed with purple.

At this moment, she noticed that his eyes were not all blue. There were specks of light silver, and light from the dim chandelier reflected off them, making his eyes like a rainbow.

There was a strong link between them, and she was suprised.

The rain suddenly stopped, and a silence followed, as if the entire world was holding its breath.

For the first time in a very long while, Hotaru felt propelled to speak.

"What is your name?"
