The breeze in the air went perfectly with the sunny day and green field. There wasn't a tree in sight. It was just you, me, and the earth.
The light held your face. It made you look like an angel. You were looking at me like I was the only thing that mattered in the world.
There were birds singing in the distance. I heard the breeze tease the tall grass that went up to my knees.
There were so many little things that I could go on about and remember. The way strands of your hair danced into your face. The distant smile that seemed to say we will meet again.
This was heaven.
You said something to me. I could see your lips moving, but the noise was muffled. I could hear your soft voice, but at the same time, I couldn't.
Your voice got louder and-
I woke up. Outside it was a gray morning, and cold too. Reality was sadder than my dream, but that was life I guess.
There was a cup of coffee on my desk from last night. I attempted an all-nighter to finish writing something for college. I must have fallen asleep, but I didn't get very much of it because it was only 6:30.
Today was going to be a treat.
I got dressed, all while thinking of the girl in my dream. Who was she? What was she trying to say? What would you like to order?
Huh?
"What would you like to order, sir?" The cafe worker looked at me, trying to get my attention. "Sir?"
The rest of the morning I was in a daze. The girl was all I could think about. I walked out of the cafe with my coffee in hand.
Who was she? Was she a figment of my imagination. Once again, my mind got the most of me, and I ended up walking into someone. And spilling all of my coffee all over them.
I immediately snapped my head out of the clouds and dropped my cup and grabbed my napkins to help clean it up.
"I. Am. So. Sorry. It's not your fault I wasn't watching where I was going and-"
It was her. The girl from my dream. She had soft, brown hair and kind eyes. She was wearing a yellow dress that made her stand out like a pansy in the large city.
Her dress now had a large brown stain on it.
She smiled sweetly and brushed it off. "It's alright! It happens sometimes." She noticed me staring at her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah! I'm more that okay!" I reached my hand out to shake her hand. "My name is Alexander Hamilton. It's certainly been quite the experience meeting you."
She outstretched her hand. "I'm Eliza Schuyler. Do you go to King's College?"
"Yeah! I do! Maybe I'll see you around?"
"For certain."
She may have walked away, but that day would be with me forever.
