TERRAFORMARS: ELECTRIC EEL
(PROLOGUE)- PROJECT: ADOLF REINHARDT
The mission to Mars had been an unsuccessful one to say the least. Sure the Annex I had reached their designation, though it was anything but an easy landing. The inhabitants of the crimson planet had made sure of that, "Terraformars", cockroaches along with mold that had been sent to evolve the planet Mars for future human colonization. Foolishly, we led ourselves to believe that sunlight and the insect corpses could serve as feed for the mold, and where it did in fact terraform the environment over the course of half a millenium, there were also survivors. Cockroaches have always learned to adapt to their environment over time no matter how much your typical housewife wishes to rid themselves of them. Clearly the researchers were all science and no history, and it was a lecture they would regret not bidding attention to gravely.
Little did we expect, said cockroaches to have evolved into the highly intelligent giant, mutated humanoids that they are now. All attempts to be friendly with the Terraformars has failed in the past. The Terraformers are a barbaric and impulsively violent species having no moral code as the humans on Earth and free to do as they please. The BUGS I mission had been a disaster because of this, resulting in the complete massacre of the original unit. It was because of this threat, that for all expeditions going forward, Earth designed the Mosaic Organ Operation (M.O. Operation).
It was a classified project that came with the uncertainty of death attached to it. The survival rate depending on the person ranged in between 36% to 40%, though if successful, the individual will have attained this Mosaic Organ through the D.N.A. of an organism that they are compatible with when paired. More often than not, the vast majority of the candidates are only viable for a type of bug. Taking a certain enhancement drug would magnify the powers of whatever the user's Mosaic Organ consists of to their actual size, making them more than prepared when it came down to taking on the Terraformars. Women appeared to be, by far the most likely candidates as far as survival rates are concerned, though is not limited to.
In fact, the very original M.O. transplant was inserted into a young boy, orphaned after both his parents had died in previous efforts to replicate the organ into various test subjects, all as dead as his parents before them. The boy along with several other discarded children had been used as a guinea pigs to experiments so inhumane and torturous the experimenting had permanently disfigured him. The scarred boy had put himself before all the others selflessly and somehow survived all that had died to achieve just what he had done. His name was Adolf Reinhardt... a high ranking officer of U-NASA, the leader of Squad 5 (or the German Unit) as well as the second strongest member of Annex I. Though it isn't quite known... just how strong is Adolf Reinhardt really?
To be continued...
