I walk into school. It's 6:30 am and I'm not supposed to be at school, but I still don't drive myself. My brother used to drive me to school but he left with my parents so now my neighbor drives me and he had a thing to do apparently.

I thought nobody would be here but I hear singing down the hallway. My ears perk up, I think I know who it is. I listen even harder and I definitely know who it is!

"And I think you're swell… I think you're sweeellll, I think you're swell," I hear down the hallway. It's my song, too!

I run in the direction of the music and crash into Robbie. He falls onto the ground, but somehow I manage to catch his guitar so it doesn't break. "Robbie!" I yell out. I wrap my arms around him after I help him up.

"Well hey, cutie, what are you doing here so early?" he inquires.

"My ride had a thing to do later and I didn't want to walk," I answer.

"Oh," he says. "I would've given you a ride if you had asked."

He's so sweet. "But, Robbie, you don't have a car. You have that bike thing." I try to disguise my hatred but that bike goes slower than little kids in toy cars.

He frowns but continues the conversation. "I was thinking, do you want to hang out tonight?" He pauses for a second, "Maybe just the two of us?" he asks slowly.

Ooh like a date, finally! I try to play it off cool but still excited about it. "Yeah, that sounds great, Robbie. I'd love to!" That's as cool as I can manage. The truth is I've loved Robbie for so long. Ever since we kissed at the Cow Wow last year, I know he's the one that I want, but we've been

too nervous to go on a real date.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, we hear the faint sound of crying.

Robbie asks, "Do you hear that? Where is that coming from?"

I shrug and we start walking towards the noise. "I think it's coming from the closet," I point. "Can you tell who is it?"

"Nope, guess we'll see," he shrugs back and opens the door.

On the closet floor lies Jade. She seems to be crying her brains out. She sits up and glares at us. She stands suddenly and takes our arms. Jade pulls us in and slams the door shut. "The polite thing to do," she hisses, "Is leave people alone when they're sad." She moves her face into her hands and continues bawling.

Robbie starts petting her shoulder. "There, there. Want to tell us about it?" he says sweetly.

"Yeah," I add. "We don't want to see you sad, Jade."

"Okay two things: first off, Robbie?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't touch me!" she screams in his face.

"What's number two?" I ask, followed by a laugh from me and Robbie.

"Beck dumped me and now I have to face him. He ended things last night and I don't think we're going to get back together again. And I don't want to see him again, ever, but especially not right now. And I lost my ride to school and I let my mom drive me today," she rolls her eyes. "And she doesn't even know when to leave, so I'm way too early," she cries into her hands again.

Robbie and I look at each other. Sure, Beck and Jade have their problems, but we really thought they would be okay after the last time they broke up. They had seemed pretty good ever since. I put my hand on her head. She glares up at me but I leave it. "Jade," I pause for a second.

"What, what!?" she screams at us.

I take a couple deep breaths. "Let's all hang out tonight. All three of us." I glance to Robbie who now seems like he could cry, too. "This is important and we want to help you through this."

Robbie nods, "Yeah, plus me and Cat were going to hang out anyway." he glares down at me. "Alone, but it's okay. You need our help."

Jade looks up from her tears. She seems like she's going to start yelling again, but then her eyes soften and she turns to me. Through her tears, she asks, "You guys were going to go on a date tonight? I can't ruin that."

I nod slowly. "Yeah, we were going to go out but you do need us, even Robbie gets that. Plus we'll do something fun until you feel better. It'll be a good time!" I cheer.

Jade looks down in disgust. "Fine, I'm in, but I'm leaving early. You guys deserve to finally get a date. That's more important than my sadness."

Robbie looks at her sweetly. "That's actually really nice, Jade, thank you."

"Don't look at me like that, Robbie!" She screeches. "Get out of the closet, it's almost time for class anyway." She stands up and dusts herself off. She walks out and shuts the door behind us.

"She's really hurting, isn't she?" I say to Robbie.

"Yeah, not enough to not yell, though," he frowns.

"I'm glad you were okay with hanging out with her tonight," I smile. "It was really sweet," I coo and wrap my arms around him.

"Come on," he takes my arm. "Let's go get to class now."
