A/N: Holy… it's been FOREVER since I've posted anything! To anyone awaiting an update of "Possibly Sufferable", I'M SORRY! Please forgive me, but my writer's block is like a wall and I refuse to turn out a crap chapter. I'm working on it, I promise, but for every line I write I erase five. Hopefully a chapter will be up sometime in the next week or so.

With that said, this is a short "yes-I'm-still-alive" oneshot/drabble using Fullmetal Alchemist, my favorite manga. It contains SPOILERS for chapter 102.

Onward!

Building an Army

Roy's first thought when he realizes his eyes are open and yet he can't see anything is, Oh my God, no. Not this.

And his second is, My memory's not that good.

Of course, Roy knows his memory isn't too shabby- to have risen as high as he has in the military and becoming a State Alchemist means that Roy can memorize places and military maneuvers and alchemic arrays and the names of battles and the number of casualties at each.

But Roy has always, always, been terrible at remembering faces.

He doesn't know why that is. All he knows is when he spends enough time apart from someone, be it Havoc or Riza or Edward, he slowly begins to be unable to remember the specifics or their faces. The exact angle of Havoc's smirk, for example, or the flash in Ed's eyes when he's mad.

Roy is on his hands and knees on the floor by now. Or what he thinks is the floor. For all he knows, he's on the ceiling. He can tell his hand is in front of his face, but he can't see it. He can't see anything.

Pride is speaking in the background, but Roy is so caught up in horror he cannot even hear. What if he forgets Fuery and his kind smile, Falman and his sheepish face? Breda's stout build or Havoc's half-mocking salute?

Hughes. What if he forgets his best friend's face? Already the details have blurred, and only pictures keep a face with the cheerful voice Roy remembers.

Riza. Riza Hawkeye.

Panic seizes Roy. The "Father" is droning on in the background, but Roy is too focused on one thought.

He can't remember what Riza looks like.

I've already lost her! his mind howls, terrified and wanting nothing more than to run away from the all-encompassing darkness. How can I have forgotten how she looks?

But suddenly Riza's face is in his mind – kind, red-brown eyes, long blond hair, a beautiful smile, and fingering a gun because, well, it's Riza. His beautiful, beautiful Riza.

Instantly, Roy's insides begin to calm, and he slowly, slowly, begins to pull himself together. He had been furious when Riza and Havoc had given up on themselves, and now here he was doing that same thing. He could get through this. He would.

And when I'm done here, me and the Elric brothers are going back through that Gate, and taking back what is ours, Roy vows, even as he hears Al come to life behind him. Because Roy has a mission.

Build a miniskirt army.

And he swears in his head that he will see Riza in a miniskirt.

A/N: Hopefully the ending wasn't too weird- I kind of wanted to alleviate the whole "holy-crap-he's-blind" thing.

Sorry if this is terrible- please review anyways!
