I had just gained trust with the Hippogryff that Hagrid brought for care of magical creatures class. I was running my hand across his feathered head when Hagrid came up behind me and hoisted me on to Buckbeaks back.
"Wait! What are you doing?" I asked as Buckbeak shifted from talon to talon in excitement.
"Calm down, its just a little ride. Hold on and, don't pull out any of his feathers. He won't soon fer-give ya for it." Hagrid replied hitting Buckbeaks rump to get him going. "Go on Buckbeak!" He said.

Buckbeak reared and clawed at Draco. He let out a strangled yell and fell to the ground clutching his arm. Hagrid rushed to his side after shooing Buckbeak away. Draco was panicking, saying things about dying. I laughed quietly and turned to Ron and Hermione. They chattered about how lucky I was to ride Buckbeak and didn't even say a word about Draco. Together we walked back to the castle for our next class. Potions...
